What’s New In Food This Month

From new infused cocktails perfect for summer to specialty chocolate for a little indulgence, there are plenty of exciting launches to know about in the food world this month….

Hayman’s Exotic Citrus Gin

Hayman’s has just launched its latest gin, Hayman’s Exotic Citrus. Vibrant notes of kumquat, pomelo, Persian lime and mandarin offer lively, fresh citrus flavours, perfect for summertime sipping. It’s also naturally made – with the depth and vibrancy of the flavour deriving directly from the fruit peels, all of which are hand-peeled and sundried before being distilled with Hayman’s London Distilled Gin during a two-day process.

This month, Waitrose’s Life On A Plate podcast returns for a third season, with guests including Andi Oliver and Dolly Alderton. In the first episode (which only came out a couple of weeks ago), Joe Wicks revealed the recipe that won his wife Rosie over, how the pandemic led to ‘PE with Joe’ being everybody’s morning routine, and how he values diet and fitness as a means to improve mental health. Fun and easy listening.

Flora’s Marmalade

Winning an award at the Dalemain Festival is no mean feat, however this year’s winner has done so at the tender age of just nine-years-old. Selected from more than 3,000 entries worldwide, Flora submitted her marmalade from her home in the Isle of Wight, after she decided to get creative in the kitchen during the winter lockdown. Her now award-winning marmalade features fresh citrus notes of Seville Orange that have been harmonised with orange blossom water, resulting in a bright and honey-like flavour described as a “little pot of sunshine”.

The marmalade will be sold at Fortnum & Mason’s UK and Hong Kong stores & the Dalemain Mansion, with 50p from each jar going to support the Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland.
