Scent is a way of presenting yourself to the world, and I love that. Some are powered by a signature scent, but what I reach for depends on my mood. **90s scents are very nostalgic for me.** Thierry Mugler was one of my first purchases – I was obsessed with ‘[Angel](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=2041&awinaffid=69421&platform=dl&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.boots.com%2Fmugler-angel-eau-de-parfum-50ml-10292099)’. I also loved ‘[Rush](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=2041&awinaffid=69421&platform=dl&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.boots.com%2Fgucci-rush-eau-de-toilette-spray-50ml-10013273)’ by Gucci and I have to mention to ‘[Fierce](https://imp.i254217.net/55aQK1)’ by Abercrombie & Fitch. I lived and breathed that fragrance – it distinguished the men from the Lynx-wearing boys. **I love scents that can create an atmosphere and mood.** I have quite eclectic taste, though I lean towards fragrances that conjure up that cosy, cashmere, winter feeling. But I don’t like anything too heavy; everything needs to be balanced. Fragrances that get this so right are Jo Malone London’s ‘[Cypress & Grapevine](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=42168&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.jomalone.co.uk%2Fproduct%2F25946%2F110444%2Fcolognes%2Fcypress-grapevine-cologne-intense%3Fsize%3D50ml)’ and Tom Ford’s ‘[Tuscan Leather](https://john-lewis-and-partners.pxf.io/9LGam5)’. Both are sexy and woody but not OTT or intrusive. Scent is a WAY OF PRESENTING YOURSELF TO THE WORLD, and I love that. I would never go to a big meeting or event without it. **Speaking of cosy, sometimes I prefer burning candles to wearing fragrances.** My favourites are smoky and full of warmth, like Diptyque’s ‘[Baies](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=44297&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.diptyqueparis.com%2Fen_uk%2Fp%2Fhome%2Fcollections%2Fbaies%2Fberries-candle-190g.html)’ – I’d like to be buried with that – and ‘[Feu De Bois](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=44297&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.diptyqueparis.com%2Fen_uk%2Fp%2Ffeu-de-bois-wood-fire-candle.html)’, which smells just like a freshly lit fire. Another favourite is Soho Home’s ‘[Fireside](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=42468&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sohohome.com%2Fproducts%2Fbassett-candle-fireside)’ and Cire Trudon’s ‘[Ernesto](https://selfridges.prf.hn/click/camref:1100loTp9/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.selfridges.com%2FGB%2Fen%2Fproduct%2Ftrudon-ernesto-scented-candle-270g_401-2001479-ERNESTO%2F)’ – this is expensive but has become a ride-or-die. I also recommend Boy Smells [‘Hinoki Fantôme](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=59805&awinaffid=69421&platform=dl&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.spacenk.com%2Fuk%2Ffragrance%2Fpersonal-fragrance%2Ffragrance%2Fhinoki-fantome-eau-de-parfum-MUK300058444.html)’, both in the candle and fragrance form. **Incense sticks help me feel comforted and warm.** My favourites are by [Aesop](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=59805&awinaffid=69421&platform=dl&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.spacenk.com%2Fuk%2Ffragrance%2Fhome-fragrance%2Fhome-sets%2Fsarashina-aromatique-incense-MUK200036797.html). My husband hates them, but when he’s away, I get them going. It’s like baby powder and just so unique. **Like everyone, certain scents remind me of my loved ones.** Viktor & Rolf’s ‘[Flowerbomb](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=2041&awinaffid=69421&platform=dl&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.boots.com%2Fviktor-and-rolf-flowerbomb-eau-de-parfum-30ml-10082746)’ will always be my best friend. Chanel ‘[No. 5](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=2041&awinaffid=69421&platform=dl&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.boots.com%2Fchanel-no5-eau-de-parfum-spray-35ml-10012545)’ is just my mum. She has loved that range for years – from the soaps to the body washes and fragrances. Creed’s ‘[Virgin Island Water](https://john-lewis-and-partners.pxf.io/JKbaLv)’ is my dad’s go-to. He keeps a bottle at our place in Mallorca, so I associate it with the best memories, as well as warmth and sunshine. **Summertime is when I go for something fresh.** I keep Floral Street’s ‘[Arizona Bloom](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=2041&awinaffid=69421&platform=dl&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.boots.com%2Ffloral-street-arizona-bloom-eau-de-parfum-50ml-10352600)’ in Mallorca. It’s so light and breezy, and sits somewhere between a soft spritz and fragrance – it's so transportative. Another scent I love in the summer is Maison Margiela’s ‘[Under The Lemon Trees](https://john-lewis-and-partners.pxf.io/mORVLM)’, which is soft and sherbet-y. I think you’d be hard pushed not to find at least one you love. The same goes for [Maison Margiela](https://www.maisonmargiela.com/en-gb/) and [Penhaligon’s](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=47883&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.penhaligons.com%2Fuk%2Fen%2F). They are three of the best fragrance houses in my opinion. **My desk and home scents are very different.** At work, I have a few fragrances I keep handy. That includes Penhaligon’s ‘[Juniper Sling](https://selfridges.prf.hn/click/camref:1100loTp9/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.selfridges.com%2FGB%2Fen%2Fproduct%2Fpenhaligonsjuniper-sling-eau-de-toilette-100ml_1108-85421782-65120954%2F)’ and ‘[The Dandy](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=42680&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.24s.com%2Fen-gb%2Fthe-dandy-eau-de-parfum-100ml-penhaligons_PEN27S92)’, which has real jazz club vibes and is dark and sexy, so I often spritz this on when I’m heading to events after work. As for ‘Juniper Sling’, it’s quite generic but it’s an amalgamation of everything I love in a fragrance. Jo Malone London’s ‘Orange Marmalade’ is also on my desk – I love that whole Paddington collaboration. It’s limited edition, but if you can still get your hands on it, I recommend doing so. At home, I have plenty I like to rotate and layer up, from Le Labo’s ‘[Another 13](https://www.johnlewis.com/le-labo-another-13-eau-de-parfum/p3755454)’ and ‘[Matcha 26](https://john-lewis-and-partners.pxf.io/VmX3Ya)’ to Matier Premiere’s ‘[Crystal Saffron](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=36666&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.harrods.com%2Fen-gb%2Fp%2Fcrystal-saffron-eau-de-parfum-100ml-000000000007259616)’, which is the most intense fragrance I own. It’s the one I reach for when I want to make a real statement. I have quite ECLECTIC TASTE, though I lean towards fragrances that conjure up that COSY, CASHMERE, WINTER FEELING. **Dries Van Noten and Miller Harris do great niche scents.** I rarely finish fragrances, but I’ve come close with Dries Van Noten’s ‘[Mystic Moss](https://selfridges.prf.hn/click/camref:1100loTp9/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.selfridges.com%2FGB%2Fen%2Fproduct%2Fdries-van-notenmystic-moss-eau-de-toilette-200ml_R04307865%2F)’. It’s fresher than I’d normally go for, but it still has a moody quality I love. Its ‘[Santal Greenery](https://selfridges.prf.hn/click/camref:1100loTp9/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.selfridges.com%2FGB%2Fen%2Fproduct%2Fdries-van-notensantal-greenery-eau-de-parfum-100ml_R03949675%2F)’ is delicious too, and both come in such huge bottles, so they last for ages. Miller Harris’s ‘[L’Air de Rien](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=18523&awinaffid=69421&platform=dl&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.millerharris.com%2Fproducts%2Flair-de-rien-eau-de-parfum%3Fvariant%3D41831900446907)’ and ‘[Feuilles de Tabac](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=18523&awinaffid=69421&platform=dl&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.millerharris.com%2Fproducts%2Ffeuilles-de-tabac-eau-de-parfum%3Fvariant%3D14420113653829)’ are two I’ve worn a lot. The whole range is beautiful and very classic. **My newest discovery is Liberty’s ‘**[**Ianthe Oud**](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=41662&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.libertylondon.com%2Fuk%2Fianthe-oud-eau-de-parfum-100ml-000811062.html)**’.** It’s the perfect amount of oud and woods, with a little bit of violet. It’s a lovely combination for both day and night. **Byredo’s ‘**[**Lil Fleur**](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=47568&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.byredo.com%2Fuk_en%2Flil-fleur-eau-de-parfum-50ml)**’ would be my repeat buy.** As I say, I don’t have a signature scent, but I would repurchase this if I run out. It’s special to me as it reminds me of a very specific time in my life that was stressful but was also full of many happy memories and moments.
