## My Can’t-Live-Without Timeless Staples

**First and foremost, a blazer, whether oversized for a relaxed feel or a sharp tuxedo cut for evening.** It’s the piece I reach for when I want to elevate an outfit instantly, and it pairs effortlessly with just about everything. I love styles from [Margiela](https://www.maisonmargiela.com/en-gb/), [Isabel Marant](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=49987&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fintl.isabelmarant.com%2Fen-gb), [Anine Bing](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=46089&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aninebing.com%2F), and [The Frankie Shop](https://eu.thefrankieshop.com/), but I also covet reconstructed and vintage finds for their unique structure and character.

**A great pair of jeans is non-negotiable.** When I want to feel polished, I gravitate toward high-waisted, straight-leg styles for their clean lines and elongating effect – favourites include [Nili Lotan](https://www.nililotan.com/), [Khaite](https://khaite.com/) and [Alex Mill](https://www.alexmill.com/). For a more casual mood, I love boyfriend fits or the crossover styles from [R13](https://www.r13.com/en-gb).

**Leather trousers are another go-to when I’m after something a little more directional than denim.** I usually reach for modern silhouettes like a barrel leg or wide-leg cut, as they add shape and attitude without feeling overly styled.

**A quality white tee is always in rotation.** I really like the fit and fabric from [COS](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=47832&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cos.com%2Fen-gb), whether it’s a crisp, clean silhouette or a boxy oversized cut. Recently, I’ve also been leaning into classic button-downs. My current favourite is a striped shirt from [HommeGirls](https://www.hommegirls.com/) – it’s endlessly versatile and easy to dress up or down, even with joggers for a laid-back, modern twist.

**As for footwear, I always have a good kitten heel or mid-height pump to hand**. I love the sleek, sculptural silhouette of the old [Céline](https://www.celine.com/en-gb/home) V-neck pumps and the minimalist designs from [Studio Amelia](https://studioamelia.co/en-gb).

#### ***Styling Tip***

Throw a blazer over a white tee and jeans for an effortless high/low look. Add a vintage brooch or a scarf with a pointed heel for daytime polish and swap in a statement earring to take it into evening.

## The Trends I’m Loving Right Now

**Sharp shoulders are having a moment**. I love the drama and power they bring to even the simplest look. But what I’m especially drawn to right now – and I’m not even sure it’s a ‘trend’ – is the growing sense of freedom in fashion. The fact that you can wear oversized, straight-leg or barrel-shaped denim, and pair it with tailoring that’s either sharply cinched or relaxed and oversized, feels incredibly liberating. It’s no longer about sticking to one prescribed formula. This democratisation of fashion – where a mix of silhouettes can coexist and still feel relevant – is one of the most refreshing shifts I’ve seen in a long time.

#### ***Styling Tip***

DIY your way into the sharp shoulder trend by adding shoulder pads to your tees, button-downs or blazers. Just make sure the shoulder seam of the garment sits in the right place so the shape holds properly.

## Retro Styles Have Grabbed My Attention

**I’m fully embracing the 80s revival right now.** Think strong blazers with bold shoulders, vintage brooches pinned to the lapel, even flower chokers wrapped around the wrist. These little touches are how I channel that decade’s attitude. I’ve dug out a few vintage jackets from the 80s and one of the fun, unexpected pieces I’m considering trying next is the pillbox hat. I love how it adds just the right amount of drama and nostalgia without feeling overly theatrical.

#### ***Styling Tip***

Go for one bold retro piece at a time and pair it with something modern and pared back. Let it reference the past without looking like a costume.

## My Approach To Modern Dressing

**For me, it’s all about contradiction, what I call paradox styling**. It’s the foundation of how I approach modern dressing. I always try to play with texture, that’s what makes a look really interesting and creates a sense of tension or friction. Think leather trousers with a shearling jacket and a silk button-down or sequins or feathers with knits, or silk and chiffon with structured leather. These combinations add depth without shouting.

**It’s also about how different pieces come together.** A tailored blazer with joggers, a sweatshirt styled with a pencil skirt and sharp jewellery – these combinations feel so current. One recent reference I loved was [Bottega Veneta](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=42813&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bottegaveneta.com%2Fen-gb&LSNSUBSITE=LSNSUBSITE)’s SS26 collection where expressive, sculptural tops were paired with minimal, grounded staples. That juxtaposition of drama and restraint perfectly captures my current approach to styling.

#### ***Styling Tip***

Try starting with a classic piece like a sharp blazer or simple skirt and add one element that feels completely opposite in tone or texture. It’s that unexpected pairing that makes the outfit feel alive.

## Consider Your Body Type

**I’ve learned that elongation is key, no matter your proportions.** Even with a balanced figure, I’m always thinking about how to create clean lines and movement. If I’m wearing wide-leg trousers, I’ll often add a pointed toe or kitten heel to keep the silhouette lifted and refined. I also see clients getting too caught up in imperfections. Be aware of your shape, yes, but don’t obsess. Style is about balance, not perfection.

#### ***Styling Tip***

Use visual lengtheners like pointed shoes or high-waisted trousers to streamline your look. But don’t get too caught up in correcting your shape.

## Understand The Power Of Accessories

**Accessories are probably my favourite part of styling.** I absolutely love them. Accessories give you the freedom to be expressive without needing to constantly buy new clothes. They’re like the punctuation marks of personal style.

**They have the power to completely transform a look**. My styling philosophy is built on strong, timeless wardrobe basics and then using accessories to shift the mood, tell a different story or inject personality. I collect vintage belts and brooches, and I love playing with unusual little finds like sequin bags or delicate silk pouches I’ve picked up at flea markets, on Etsy or eBay. I also have a rotation of bold jewellery that can instantly change the tone of an outfit.

**Sunglasses are a key part of this, too**. I’m obsessed with my oversized [Phoebe Philo](https://www.phoebephilo.com/) frames. They instantly elevate any look and give you that confident, no-nonsense energy. Even the simplest outfit can be transformed with the right pair.

#### ***Styling Tip***

Keep a rotation of statement accessories like a standout earring, a vintage belt or a playful bag and use them to reinvent your basics. They’ll add personality and edge to even the most minimal outfit.

## Use Colour As An Accent

**For me, colour is something I usually bring in through accessories**. It’s the easiest and most effective way to shift the energy of an outfit without disrupting the balance of a streamlined wardrobe. A bright beanie, a colourful sock or a bold scarf can add interest without needing to overhaul your entire look. I also love using a small, unexpected pop, like a vibrant bag, to break up a neutral base.

**I take a pragmatic approach to quantity in my wardrobe.** For me, less is more. When your wardrobe is more streamlined, it’s easier to build cohesive outfits. Colour can make that harder if you don’t have enough pieces to mix and match, which is why I prefer to keep to base neutral and let the colour come in through accents. Metallics are also a go-to for me. They bring in shine and personality without competing with colour.

#### ***Styling Tip***

If you’re colour-shy, start with small accessories. A red scarf, a mini bag in colour or a sneaker with a colourful detail can add just enough energy. And don’t forget metallics – they offer visual impact in a more neutral, versatile way.

## Proportions Are Everything

**A strong outfit can fall flat if the silhouette isn’t considered.** I always play with contrasts, like voluminous trousers with a sharp top, or oversized knits with a sleek skirt. Sometimes it’s about creating shape with a belt or cinched waist. The key is to be intentional and balanced.

#### ***Styling Tip***

Add structure somewhere, whether through tailoring or tucking, to keep even the most relaxed silhouettes visually clean and flattering.

## Invest In The Pieces Your Wear Most Often

**Tailored blazers or coats, a strong leather jacket, perfect jeans and great shoes.** Every season I try to add one or two elevated pieces to refresh my base wardrobe, opting for a few favourite designer investments rather than a multitude of high-street buys. For me, it’s about quality over quantity. I’m not really investing in bags at the moment – I prefer fun, smaller bags from vintage or thrift finds.

**When I do buy an investment piece, I cherish it so much more.** It gives me that sense of grounded confidence – I know I can rely on it for anything, from running around the city to a client lunch or event. It holds its own and makes any look feel considered.

#### ***Styling Tip***

Invest based on your lifestyle. Focus on the few items you wear regularly and love, and mix in playful, low-commitment pieces to stay creatively inspired.

## Styling Can Refresh A Look

**You can completely alter the mood of an outfit just by how you style the pieces you already own.** Simple changes like swapping shoes, adding a belt or tying a scarf differently can transform the vibe of a look. Layering works too – draping a knit over your shoulders or introducing a new texture can shift the entire mood. Even something as simple as a silk scarf styled over the shoulders, like Miuccia [Prada](https://prada.prf.hn/click/camref:1100l3Hiir/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.prada.com%2Fgb%2Fen.html) showed us recently, can make a basic look feel instantly elevated. On the flip side, tying a plaid shirt around the waist gives a grungier, off-duty edge.

#### ***Styling Tip***

Try reworking a go-to outfit with one styling twist – a scarf over your blazer, a plaid shirt tied at the waist, or a belt layered over outerwear. Small changes can refresh your whole look without buying a thing.

## Edit Your Wardrobe

**I clean out my wardrobe regularly, ideally on a seasonal basis.** I like to take inventory as I shift between winter and summer – typically during the transitional moments of autumn and spring. That’s when I reassess what I have, what I need and what needs to go. I prefer to keep things visible and in one place, usually hanging up, so I can see clearly what I’m working with. That visibility really helps me make better styling decisions, especially when you can immediately see how many black trousers or blazers you already own. We all forget we’ve bought something at some point, so keeping things organised helps avoid unnecessary purchases and gives your wardrobe more clarity.

#### ***Styling Tip***

Organise your wardrobe so that everything is visible – hang up key pieces and group by category or colour. It’s the simplest way to stay inspired and avoid overbuying.

## Resell What Your Don’t Wear

**I’m a huge reseller – and second-hand shopping is part of my wardrobe strategy, too**. I use platforms like [Vestiaire Collective](https://us.vestiairecollective.com/) and [eBay](https://www.ebay.co.uk/) for designer or premium pieces, and [Vinted](https://www.vinted.co.uk/) for more accessible items. I try to follow a ‘one-in, one-out’ approach: whenever something new comes in, I consider what can go. It’s not always perfect, but it keeps my wardrobe intentional and rotating.

**As life shifts, so does our style.** It reflects the chapter we’re in. So when something no longer feels like me, I let it go. I also think strategically when I buy, choosing pieces I’ll wear but also ones that hold their value. Some brands and styles resell really well, so I factor that into how I build my wardrobe.

#### ***Styling Tip***

When something no longer fits your story, resell, gift or donate it – and make space for what’s next.
