**I walk around five miles a day with our Rhodesian Ridgeback** and to get the most out of it I make it fast paced. I keep the steps up on holiday too. In Mallorca, where we often go, we hike up a mountain without fail every morning, which is a one-hour round trip. I find it the best exercise and particularly have in mind that the higher impact is great for cell turnover, joint health and preventing osteoporosis.

**I love reformer Pilates** **and do it once a week at my local gym**. I also run once a week. Again, I’m thinking about looking after my bones and keeping my cardiovascular fitness up too. In the winter months, I’ll turn to my Peloton. My favourite instructor is Ally Love – she’s got such great energy.

**I always wear black activewear, or grey at a push.** Not very adventurous, I know, but I think it looks chicer. A new brand I’ve discovered is [Now You Live](https://www.nowyoulive.com/?), but I also love the minimalist designs of [Vuori](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=41094&awinaffid=69421&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fvuoriclothing.co.uk%2Fcollections%2Fwomens), [Alo](https://www.aloyoga.com/en-gb) and [Varley](https://uk.varley.com/).

**I was a chiropractor for nearly 20 years,** so I really don't know how people live without it – I can't put up with any little niggles! I see Chiara in the [Northcote Chiropractic clinic](https://www.northcotechiropractic.co.uk/) in Battersea (which I originally helped to set up) every couple of months, alternating monthly with deep tissue massages at home by Secret Spa.

**Sleep is so important for health and wellness,** and I try to prioritise early nights during the week whenever I can. Obviously, this can be difficult, particularly when there are work events I have to attend. If I need a little bit of help, I might take a spray of low-dose melatonin which we buy in Spain – I don't use it regularly as I don't want to down regulate my own supply. Women naturally produce less melatonin as we get older which is how I rationalise my occasional use. It’s such a luxury and it would be my nightly routine if I had the time.

**I haven’t got into meditation or any mindfulness practices** **yet.** I think I need to carve out some time for them. But listening to podcasts really relaxes me. **I try to avoid processed foods** and have used [Hello Fresh](https://www.hellofresh.co.uk/) pretty much since it launched. It keeps things varied; my family love it and I swear by it. On evenings when I’m not using them or for a dinner party, I follow a few cooks and chefs on social media for inspiration. [@DishingOutHealth](https://www.instagram.com/dishingouthealth/) is fab (the miso Caesar roasted broccoli salad is a firm favourite), as are [Susie Flory](https://www.instagram.com/susieflory/), [Wholesome by Sarah](https://www.instagram.com/wholesomebysarah/), [Natalie Chassay](https://www.instagram.com/nataliechassay/) and [Alexandra Dudley](https://www.instagram.com/alexandradudley/).

**It might sound sad, but my favourite snacks happen to be the healthy ones.** I’m a nut, seed and chickpea snacker, so will keep things like [tamari roasted seeds](https://www.clearspring.co.uk/products/snack-organic-tamari-roasted-pumpkin-seeds) and BRAVE [crunchy chickpeas](https://bravefoods.co.uk/products/sea-salt-vinegar-2) in my desk.

**To help with gut health and keep my fibre intake up,** I incorporate flax seed into a meal every day, either a milled mix with breakfast or a sprinkle of seeds and nuts on a salad. M&amp;S does a really nice gut-boosting mix from their [Good Gut range](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=1402&awinaffid=69421&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.marksandspencer.com%2Ffood%2F35-gut-booster-mega-mix%2Fp%2Ffdp60734964) which contains flax, goji berries, dried lion’s mane and more.

**I drink less alcohol these days,** mainly because I don't tolerate wine that well now and it makes me feel heady the next day. However, champagne doesn't seem to have the same side effect and is my Achilles heel when it comes to healthy living – I’m a firm believer that a little of what you love (quite regularly!) is good for you. I also gave up gluten at around 40 as it wasn't agreeing with my digestion – looking back, I believe it may have had a negative impact on my overall health, including my fertility.

**One of the most important supplements for me is iron.** I take it daily as a spray (by [Better You](https://betteryou.com/collections/iron-supplements)) or a capsule ([Gentle Iron](https://amzn.to/4anXHRd) by Together Health). I had a bad experience with an iron infusion which made me quite ill for 18 months and I'm now on levothyroxine (a synthetic hormone for thyroid health) for the foreseeable future. I was always low in iron, but I don't recommend trying to take a short cut – it was counterproductive for me.

**I’ve recently discovered mushrooms** and have seen a huge difference from taking lion's mane for brain focus and cordyceps for energy. Mushu does some great drops that you can add to any drink (so handy) and every state does a [mushroom-matcha blend](https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=etT1jgERWYw&mid=50574&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.daylesford.com%2Feverystate-matcha-mushroom-blend&LSNSUBSITE=LSNSUBSITE) I have in the morning.

**For hair and scalp health I use an LED helmet** (which sounds nuts but it works!), along with some prescribed minoxidil. I also take Ingenious’ [collagen capsules](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=123112&awinaffid=69421&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fingeniouslife.com%2Fproducts%2Fingenious-collagen) and use Kérastase’s specific anti-ageing hair care range [Chronologiste](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=15726&awinaffid=69421&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.kerastase.co.uk%2Franges%2Fregimen%2Fchronologiste) (in the black bottles). I also love LED for my skin. The Foreo [202 mask](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=2082&awinaffid=69421&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.lookfantastic.com%2Fp%2Fforeo-faq-202-led-mask%2F14695363%2F) is my favourite as it’s so light and comfortable, you can wear it whilst doing chores and will forget it’s on.
