Around every corner there’s another church, fountain or crumbling ruin competing for your attention, which is precisely why The Rome EDITION feels so refreshing. Opened in 2023 as Marriott’s first Italian EDITION property, the hotel strips away some of the formality traditionally associated with luxury stays in the capital and replaces it with something cooler, lighter and more contemporary. From the outside, it’s understated. Inside, however, the atmosphere shifts immediately. Double-height ceilings, creamy stone, soft lighting and carefully curated furniture create a space that feels cinematic without being intimidating. Unlike many Roman hotels, which lean heavily into antique décor and maximalism, The Rome EDITION feels purposefully restrained. There’s still plenty of Italian character – marble surfaces, rich textures and warm terracotta tones – but everything is edited with a modern hand. It’s sophisticated yet playful, polished without ever feeling stiff. Location-wise, it’s ideally positioned. Trevi Fountain, Via Veneto and the Spanish Steps are all within walking distance, yet the hotel sits just far enough away from the tourist crowds to feel calm.
