This is because most of the visible signs of ageing we see are caused by cumulative sun exposure. SPF isn’t just protection, it’s prevention. **Something worth investing in is vitamin C.** It’s one of the most important antioxidants in skincare. It helps protect against environmental damage, boosts radiance and promotes a brighter, more even-looking complexion. A [vitamin C serum](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=113912&awinaffid=69421&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fkerenbartov.co.uk%2Fproducts%2Fvitamin-c-serum) is a permanent fixture in my own skincare routine and it’s also well tolerated by most. **Sleep is one of the body’s most important regeneration tools** – during this time your cells are renewing and are therefore most receptive to change. When you don’t get enough, your skin often looks more tired, less radiant and can sometimes be more sensitive. I believe in a balanced diet rich in antioxidants, vegetables, fruits and high-quality proteins. Skin reflects many of the choices we make every day, so it’s important to care for it from all angles. **Cleansing is the foundation of every skincare routine.** If the skin is not properly free from SPF, make-up, pollution and excess oil, even the best products cannot absorb properly and perform at their best. I love a double cleanse in the evening using a flannel which offers gentle exfoliation at the same time and a gentle cleanse in the morning. I try to drink water consistently throughout the day rather than waiting until I feel thirsty. Internal hydration is important for your skin and overall health but it doesn’t replace proper skincare. I also love using a [hydrating spray](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=113912&awinaffid=69421&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fkerenbartov.co.uk%2Fproducts%2Fhydration-glow-spray) throughout the day to instantly refresh the skin and provide an extra boost of moisture and radiance. **Ceramides are seriously underrated.** They’re naturally occurring lipids found in the skin that form a key part of the skin barrier. As we age and as the skin is exposed to environmental stressors, ceramide levels decline. Using formulas that contain ceramides help strengthen the skin barrier, reduce moisture loss and improve overall skin health. **Personalisation is the secret to long-term skin health and lasting results.** What works for one person may cause irritation or imbalance in another. I don’t believe there’s a fixed number of products for everyone. Some need a simpler routine, while others benefit from a more comprehensive one. Every product should serve a purpose. I like incorporating formulas that hydrate and support overall skin health without creating that heavy feeling. **Nailing the basics is key.** To me, a good routine should renew the skin, treat it, maintain hydration and protect it.
