The standout is Alessandro Mendini’s Alessandro M. corkscrew, reimagined in The Mark’s signature black-and-white stripes. The range also includes a picnic basket by Marcel Wanders, a tray by Nika Zupanc and Ron Arad’s Babyboop hors d’oeuvre set. East Village newcomer 20 Blocks is giving the sandwich a creative spin with a menu that evolves over time. Current menu hits include The Corn Star, which combines charred sweetcorn, cowboy candy and havarti cheese on milk bread, while Turkey Town layers turkey, fried green tomatoes and Cajun mayo into honey whole-wheat bread. The menu includes familiar favourites such as mussel flatbread with chilli butter and bluefin tuna belly carpaccio, alongside New York-only dishes including red shrimp and foie gras tostada, wood-roasted grouper with salsa verde and Lucky Lime oysters served on the half shell. Post Company has redesigned the space around an open kitchen-bar and a more intimate rear dining room, with works by Keith Haring, Damien Hirst and Brian Clarke. Co-owner Dina De Luca Chartouni worked with designer Michael S. Smith on spaces that balance classic Manhattan elegance with contemporary comfort. Wood-burning fireplaces anchor the living rooms, framed by sculpted marble mantels and built-in bookshelves, while generous sofas, club chairs and writing desks create the feel of a private apartment. In the suites, canopy beds and bespoke dressing areas add to the sense of occasion, while mahogany double doors separate living and sleeping spaces. Marble bathrooms feature deep soaking tubs and walk-in showers, with richly coloured stone adding a distinctive finish. Kitchenettes are discreetly integrated for a more independent stay, and selected suites can be configured as two-, three- or four-bedroom residences. Taking its title from a 1962 work, the Whitney exhibition spans six decades and includes familiar paintings, lesser-known pieces and four re-created murals, alongside drawings, sculptures, films and prints. Positioned as a more casual counterpart to his celebrated restaurant, it serves modern American cooking built around seasonal produce from the same farm as Eleven Madison Park. The à la carte dinner menu sits alongside cocktails and small plates at the bar – we love the sound of the red snapper bouillabaisse, rigatoni pomodoro and vanilla ice-cream with hot chocolate sauce. Pierre Yovanovitch handled the interiors, with art by Francesco Clemente and Rashid Johnson. The concept brings together a carefully edited menswear boutique, a low-intervention wine bar and a hi-fi listening space that opens onto a back garden. The shop’s selection spans clothing and homeware, with pieces chosen for their considered design and easy-to-wear appeal. At the bar, the focus is on bottles from small growers and producers working with minimal intervention, accompanied by a concise menu of snacks. The menu moves beyond traditional French brasserie cooking, combining New American classics, Cajun influences and seasonal produce. Start at the raw bar, where a seafood tower brings together oysters, clams, preserved mussels, shrimp cocktail and fluke crudo, before moving on to dishes such as crab cake with gribiche, beef tartare with Dijon and a crisp chicory salad with chickpeas, salami and smoky mozzarella.
