The collections brought plenty of individuality to the runway, from bold colour and unexpected silhouettes to intricate craftsmanship and inventive uses of traditional textiles. Initially known for its swimwear, Andrea Iyamah has since expanded into resortwear, ready-to-wear and occasion dressing, while retaining the saturated colour, expressive prints and figure-conscious silhouettes that define its aesthetic. This year, the brand marked its 15th anniversary with a presentation at Isimi Lagos, showcasing ‘Rooted’, its Fall 2026 collection, alongside a preview of Spring/Summer 2027. Its collections often bring together structured silhouettes, expressive detailing and traditional textiles, alongside a thoughtful use of reclaimed materials. For this season, the label explored drop-waist shapes, statement fringe and intricate beading in a palette of blue, brown and black. In 2026, a fire destroyed its London studio and much of the archive built over the brand’s first decade. Rather than turn away from the experience, Onalaja used it as the inspiration for ‘Re: Birth’, her Spring/Summer 2027 collection, first shown in London before being presented in Lagos in an intimate, salon-style setting. Moving from burnt tones and smoky greys into brighter colour, the collection uses intricate beadwork, fringe and feathers to explore the idea of renewal. Raised in the UK by Nigerian parents, she studied art and marketing before travelling through the region, where encounters with local textile traditions and artisans inspired her to launch Kilentar. The label works closely with weavers, dyers and beaders, putting the people and skills behind its garments at the heart of the brand. For Lagos Fashion Week 2026, Kilentar presented its Spring/Summer 2027 collection in an intimate offsite setting, showcasing contemporary womenswear shaped by traditional techniques. His designs challenge familiar ideas about how clothes should look and be worn, giving the brand a distinctive point of view. At Lagos Fashion Week 2026, Fruché presented ‘KLEG’, its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, which brought together gingham shirting and draped gowns with more unusual pieces, including skirts made from carved seed pods and a sculptural wooden bustier. Sheer layers, uneven silhouettes, hand-stitched embellishments and looped-yarn finishes brought depth and movement to the looks, allowing the construction to take centre stage. Designed and made in Lagos, the collections are created in close collaboration with local artisans and garment makers. For Spring/Summer 2026, Abina explored the idea of duality with ‘Gemini’, a 19-look collection playing with contrasts between strength and softness, boldness and ease. Signature prints sit alongside cinched waists, voluminous sleeves and fluid draping, while a softer colour palette gives some of the more dramatic shapes a lighter feel. The result is a collection that feels polished but never overly formal, with pieces designed to work just as well during the day as they do for evening plans.
