The Luxe List: July

The SL team shares a selection of their new favourite things. From the fashion launch of choice to the latest beauty must-have, our monthly Luxe List offers all the inspiration you need...

THE FRAGRANCE: Mareld by Bjork & Berries

Björk & Berries’ scent collection is inspired by Sweden’s changeable seasons and nature. Its latest launch is Mareld, which means ‘sea-fire’ in old Scandinavian. The fragrance carries summery notes of salted figs, bergamot and seaweed, and comes in a 50ml glass bottle with a signature red cap. Best of all, every Björk & Berries perfume is vegan and made in Sweden with organic fermented alcohol, made from vegetable food waste.

THE HOT PRODUCT: Frankie Shop Boxers

The boxer-style short has been one of this season’s most notable trends, so it’s no surprise to see the Frankie Shop have jumped on board by releasing its own selection. The brand’s design is characteristically oversized, androgynous, and available in a variety of colours like yellow, pink and cornflower blue, as modelled by Pernille Teisbaek. They’ve just launched on NET-A-PORTER, so snap them up for summer before they sell out.

THE COLLAB: Away That Day x Bettina Looney

If stylish new swimwear is on your summer shopping list, sustainable brand Away That Day’s collaboration with Bettina Looney might just fit the bill. Stylist Bettina’s love of the 80s is apparent throughout the collection – think high cut bottoms, acid brights and plunging necklines. Commenting on the partnership, Bettina said: “The collection has a bit of a Miami flare to it, as well as being inspired by what my mum wore in the 80s. My favourite piece has to be the two-piece bikini with the high waisted bottom – I’m obsessed with it!”. The collection drops on 14 July, so set your alarms.

THE BEAUTY EVENT: Chanel Factory 5

To celebrate Chanel N°5 and its 100-year anniversary, the French fashion brand has developed Chanel Factory 5, a series of 17 limited-edition products which all use N°5 as its sole ingredient. Of the collection – which is all designed with striking monochrome packaging – we love the look of the sparkling body wash, bath tablets and body oil.

THE SPORTSWEAR BRAND: Staud x New Balance

US fashion brand Staud has teamed up with New Balance for the third time on a limited edition sportwear collection, and it’s arguably the best yet. The collaboration combines Staud’s playful and bold design with New Balance’s technical kudos, resulting in a selection of vintage-inspired tennis dresses, leggings and trainers that tap into the fashion-meets-activewear aesthetic that’s sweeping Instagram. The collection is currently only available to buy from the US site, but we reckon it’s worth the shipping charges.

THE NOVEL: Once Upon A Time In Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino

Based on his award-winning film, Quentin Tarantino’s long-awaited debut novel mixes whiskey, regrets, hilarity and infamy – and features an unforgettable cast of characters. Rick Dalton is a washed-up former actor drowning his sorrows in whiskey sours. Cliff Booth – Rick's stunt double – is the most infamous man on any movie set because he's the only one there who might have got away with murder. Sharon Tate left Texas to chase a movie-star dream and found it. And then there’s Charles Manson, the ex-con who’d trade his fame as leader of a cult to be a rock 'n' roll star.
