THE JEWELLERY APPOINTMENT:
Jessica McCormack
Jessica McCormack is one of the hottest names in jewellery. As well as offering an extensive range of ready-to-wear designs, she creates bespoke pieces at her shop at 7 Carlos Place. From a single ring to a major suite of jewels, Jessica personally designs every piece. They are then hand-crafted in-house under her direction. Clients can choose their exact diamonds, from a subtle ¼ carat upwards, which are sourced by the house diamantaire. At the beginning of a bespoke commission, Jessica will get to know her client by sitting with them in the shop’s library and discussing their likes, dislikes and style, so they’re guaranteed a unique and personalised piece.

THE TRAVEL HOT-TICKET:
Belmond Gift Card
A Belmond Gift Card can be spent on an afternoon tea, a massage, a masterclass or saved entirely towards a longer trip – the choice sits with whoever receives it. It’s available in two formats. A physical card arrives beautifully packaged and posted, while an eGift card is sent digitally and lands instantly. Values start at £100 and run up to £10,000, so the card can scale to a serious contribution towards travel. What makes it work as a gift is its range: Belmond's portfolio covers hotels, restaurants, trains, boats and safaris across multiple continents, so it suits someone who already knows exactly where they want to go as much as someone who hasn't decided yet.

THE SCENT:
Perfumer H Workshop
Lyn Harris spent 15 years building perfume brand Miller Harris. She opened Perfumer H on Crawford Street in Marylebone in 2015, in a shop and laboratory designed by Retrouvius Reclamation and Design. Book a By Appointment Only session for a loved one and they’ll get up to 60 minutes at Perfumer H's flagship, comprising a tour through the working laboratory, then hands-on time with the raw materials used to build a scent, led by one of Lyn's lab assistants. The experience is less about buying a bottle and more about understanding how one gets made. The appointment ends with guidance on choosing and applying a fragrance suited to the guest, and everyone leaves with a 50ml eau de parfum in their chosen scent.

THE HEIRLOOM:
Portfolio London
Commissioning a portrait usually starts with a hard question: which artist? Portfolio London answers it by matching clients to British fine artists trained at institutions including Charles H. Cecil and London Fine Arts, chosen for talent, vision and reliability rather than name recognition alone. The pieces themselves are worked from life, from photographs, or a mix of both, and tend to mark occasions that matter – weddings, milestone birthdays, Christmases. Once the artist is chosen, the studio doesn't step back. It arranges framing and courier services once the piece is finished, and keeps the client involved at every stage rather than handing over a surprise at the end.

THE COUTURE EXPERIENCE:
Erdem Bespoke
A commission at Erdem's Bespoke Atelier moves through four distinct stages – and none of them are rushed. It begins with a consultation, talking through ideas with the design team, before moving into sketching and the selection of custom fabrics and signature embroideries. Fittings are then held in London to lock in the fit, and only after that does the piece move into final construction. The atelier specialises in eveningwear and tailoring, and every garment is built individually rather than adapted from something already on the rail. The experiences take place in Erdem’s two London flagship stores, South Audley Street in Mayfair and Sloane Street in Knightsbridge.

THE PRIVATE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE:
40 Duke At Selfridges
Selfridges has taken private shopping up a notch with 40 Duke, its new 25,000 sq ft destination above the London flagship. Designed around personal shopping, the space brings together private suites, a concierge service, dining, drinks and cultural programming, so a shopping appointment can easily turn into a full afternoon. The experience is highly personalised, with dedicated shoppers on hand to curate everything from a single look to a complete lifestyle edit – all with the kind of attention you’d expect from a private members’ club. Access is available through a personal shopping appointment or to top-tier Selfridges Unlocked members.

THE BESPOKE SUIT:
Hax Tailoring
Hax offers both custom and made-to-measure tailoring. You’ll find the studio in Mayfair, close enough to Savile Row to borrow its heritage without inheriting its formality. Every commission begins the same way – a direct conversation about measurements, fit, cloth and detail – with cloth sourced from established merchants. Two-piece suits start at £1,100, with coats, dresses and shearling pieces also made to order. Some clients walk in with the whole design already worked out; others need steering through fabric and styling choices from nothing, and Hax offers as much or as little input as they want. Hattie Glendenning founded the business in 2023, and every visit is by appointment, so no consultation or fitting competes with another client's time.

THE CUSTOM PIECE:
Cartier
All Cartier purchases can be made unmistakably personalised by engraving a name, initials or a date onto the piece. Some boutiques will go further, adding a handwritten message or a simple motif, depending on the piece of jewellery. There's also a separate option worth knowing about: Cartier offers a personalisation service on certain boxes. The hot stamping service is offered exclusively in selected boutiques and can be used to emboss initials or a symbolic date onto a jewellery case.

THE GETAWAY:
Jnane Rumi
Striking hotel Jnane Rumi sits in the Palmeraie, Marrakech's roughly 1,000-year-old palm grove, about ten minutes' drive from the Medina. Its most recent renovation was carried out with reference to architect Charles Boccara's original design rather than against it, and a bathroom with a nine-metre-high domed ceiling, alongside a dedicated hammam and massage room, anchor the property's quieter side. Seven en-suite bedrooms make up the main house, with most opening onto private terraces or balconies, arranged around a 13m x 6m pool and gardens holding more than 150 palm trees. For guests who want more separation, a standalone annex offers its own salon, enclosed garden, pool and terraces, along with three smaller pavilions – enough that the whole estate can be booked exclusively for a group or an event rather than shared.

THE FASHION STAY:
Coco Chanel Suite Ritz Paris
Gabrielle Chanel called The Ritz in Paris ‘ma maison’, and she meant it. She started frequenting the hotel in the 1920s, when her fashion house at 31 Rue Cambon sat just around the corner. She settled there permanently in 1954, staying until her death and furnishing her rooms with her own furniture and belongings. Today, the suite is built to evoke that Rue Cambon apartment rather than reconstruct it exactly. Its high windows look out over Place Vendôme – contours said to have shaped the stopper on the N°5 bottle, a detail that ties the room directly back to one of her most famous creations. Inside, the palette stays true to her signature black, ivory and white, with a suede sofa, crystal lamps, Venetian mirrors and Coromandel screens standing in for what she once kept there herself.

THE SERVICE:
Club 19 London
A sold-out Birkin, a six-figure Patek Philippe, occasionally a private jet – the requests Club 19 London fields give a sense of who its clients are. The service runs from bases in London and Dubai, built on more than 30 years in luxury retail, and each client works with a dedicated personal shopper rather than a general team. The team specialises in sourcing the most exclusive, rare and in-demand fashion and lifestyle pieces worldwide. Through its access to leading boutiques, private collections, sold-out drops and trusted global partners, every detail is handled with precision and discretion – from first message to worldwide delivery. It's not purely transactional, either: the shoppers also advise on investment purchases, particularly around Hermès and watches, including when it's actually worth buying.
