With things like this, I like to look at how it's styled on the runway, as well as on retail platforms and by people I follow. That way, you can consider all the options before you invest.

I'm manifesting owning this bag. I love a bold accessory – it means you can keep everything else understated and nothing is chicer than a Fendi Baguette. Check out luxury resale platforms for something like this; just remember to do your research, check the pricing and the quality before you add to basket.

Every morning I write a to-do list in my Smythson notebook and a Montblanc fountain pen is the ultimate in luxury. There are so many options so it's worth going into store and trying out all the nibs and ink options. Personally, I'd always choose black ink, in a black and gold pen.

I recently got these pumps and, honestly, I haven’t taken them off. They’re the sexiest, chicest and most comfortable shoes I own right now.

A great coat is one of the things I’m most willing to invest in. I love Nour Hammour because the silhouettes feel timeless without ever being boring, while the leather and shearling pieces have that slightly undone, effortless quality I always look for. I’d much rather have one incredible coat that I wear constantly than five that only come out occasionally. This one has been on my radar since last winter – I think it’s finally time to take the plunge.

I don’t think investment pieces should always be about what everyone else gets to see. There’s something particularly lovely about investing in a little luxury purely for yourself – and I’m a big believer in a fancy house slipper. Arthur Sleep does this so well: everything is custom-made and feels incredibly special. I recently treated myself to a pony hair and leather pair and, honestly, I couldn’t recommend them more.

Dries Van Noten is a brand I always come back to. It has such a strong point of view and the pieces never feel quite like anything else. I was recently in Milan, tripped and fell into their store (obviously), and promptly fell in love with this bag. It’s currently on sale, which could make it a no-brainer…

Wool Blazer, Saint Laurent
If I could only keep one thing in my wardrobe, it would probably be a tuxedo. I've worn them for decades – usually slightly irreverently, with denim, a white t-shirt or something sheer underneath. For me, the ultimate is an original Saint Laurent Le Smoking – one of those pieces that genuinely changed the way women dressed: masculine tailoring made incredibly sexy. This oversized version works two ways – as a blazer, or styled as a dress with just sheer black tights. The current Saint Laurent tuxedo is also a useful benchmark for what to look for: a strong shoulder, a beautifully cut lapel and enough length to wear as a dress.
Tank Louis Watch, Cartier
I'm not really interested in watches that shout. The Cartier Tank is discreet, intellectual and incredibly chic. It's been worn by men and women for generations and somehow never belongs to one particular era. You can't really go wrong with a 1970s Tank – I love the decade and it's the watch Yves Saint Laurent famously wore. Learn the model names before you start shopping, since "Cartier Tank" is far too broad a search – save searches for "Tank Louis vintage", then narrow by case material, size and strap. And buy the seller as much as the watch: provenance, servicing and authentication matter more than shaving a little off the price. Vintage examples currently start from around the mid-£2,000s upwards, depending on material and specification.
Vintage Fur & Silk Robe, Conner Ives
I love the idea of upcycling and clothing that's lived a past life. This Demi couture reconstituted vintage fur robe is made from crepe silk satin, embroidered with cherry blossoms, with cuffs and collars from vintage fur coats sourced exclusively from vintage sellers, so no living animals are harmed in the making of it. It's the coat of the season, made in London, and can be worn as an evening jacket or thrown over jeans, the way Kate Moss wore hers. Just bear in mind that it's made to order, so build in an eight-to-ten week delivery time.
Vintage Handbag, Chanel
If I were buying a Chanel bag now, I'd go vintage and a 2.55 over anything that feels obviously "new Chanel". I love the original Mademoiselle lock, the chain and the slightly anonymous quality of it. I wouldn't want a pristine one, either – give me softened leather, slightly tarnished hardware and something that looks like it's spent 30 years going to very good parties. I think we've become confused about investment dressing and assume it means keeping precious things immaculate – my philosophy is the opposite: if you spend serious money on something, wear it relentlessly. I save searches – "Chanel 2.55 vintage black", "Chanel Reissue aged calfskin" – then filter by decade, leather and hardware. Don't overlook badly photographed pieces either; some of my best finds have been hiding in plain sight.
Pre-Owned Bag, Hermès
I own an Hermès Constance, which I bought at auction. I love it because it's slightly less obvious than a Birkin or Kelly but just as iconic – designed in 1959 and famously carried by Jackie Kennedy, mine is something I'll keep forever. I wear it with denim or a man's cashmere sweater, rather than saving it for "best" – for me, that's the point of buying an expensive bag: it should become part of your life, not sit in a box. consider auction houses when buying Hermès – I look at Christie's and Sotheby's specialist bag departments and keep an eye on major sales beyond London, since Paris, Hong Kong and New York can turn up completely different pieces. For resale, I use Vestiaire Collective and search specifically – "Hermès Constance 18 vintage", as well as the leather name, colour and even the decade.

Leather Blazer, Hermès
One of my best vintage finds ever is a camel Hermès leather blazer I found at Retro London in Notting Hill – always my first stop when I'm in the city. It's beautifully tailored, with strong shoulders and a slightly androgynous feel, yet still flattering and feminine. I paid around £200 for it, when a piece of that quality would easily retail for over £2,000. My tip: always check the wall on the left as soon as you walk into Retro – some of the best pieces are hanging there.
Tailored Trousers, Balenciaga
I found these vintage black Balenciaga trousers in Vintage Déjà Vu in Marbella – they’re low-waisted with a flared, 70s-meets-90s feel, and honestly they’re the perfect fit for me. I paid around €200, versus an original retail price of well over €1,000. I always recommend building relationships with the owners of the vintage stores you love – once they know your size and style, they'll flag things before they even reach the shop floor.
Boulevard Loafers, Gucci
At the top of my current wish list are the black Gucci Boulevard loafers, with their classic rounded shape and oversized Horsebit detail. Loafers never really go out of style and these would work with everything from tailored trousers to dresses. Before buying an expensive shoe, mentally style it with at least five outfits already in your wardrobe – if it only works with one look, skip it.
Small Bag, Saint Laurent
I've had my eye on the Saint Laurent Small Hortensia hobo bag in black shiny leather for a while – I love the slouchy shape and the Cassandra ring detail pulled from the house archives. Bags are one category where it's worth investing in something that isn't too trend-led, since they hold resale value better. Look for a shape you genuinely love and check resale platforms before buying, both for longevity and market value.
Waxed Dress, Miu Miu
I'm currently obsessing over Miu Miu's dress in waxed double wool – playful but still wearable, which is exactly what I love about the brand. I can picture it styled endless ways: bare underneath, over a sheer blouse, with a polo-neck in winter or even with a long leather coat for something more rock 'n' roll.
