Simone Rocha may not be directly on your radar, but chances are her designs have influenced some of your favourite trends of this year. Showcasing maxed-out femininity and dramatic white layers, the Irish designer is setting the pace for fashion girls with her unique take on ready-to-wear.

It wasn’t just the separates in her AW18 show that set tongues wagging – although the industry was easily seduced by maximalist ruffles, twee ribbon detailing, chintzy prints and dramatic lace. For so long, pearls, bow motifs and hair slides have been given an antiquated status, but the designer’s contemporary approach (injections of black and busy flourishes add a baroque feel to her styles) has put these accessories back on the map.

They may not be cheap, but these are the statement pieces setting the agenda this season. From pearl-encrusted slides to glitzy bows, this is officially the time to embrace girly accessories.
