The Brand
Founder Lorna Watson is passionate about luxury and preserving age-old artisan techniques – something that’s apparent in Stelar’s past-meets-present collections. With an impressive background in luxury goods for many years, Lorna found herself in Bali on a research project with a basket weaving community – and Stelar was born. Working directly with local artisans to create unique contemporary hand-crafted bags and accessories, you can now find Stelar on the shelves of international department stores that include Selfridges, Fenwicks, Fortnum and Masons and Lane Crawford in Hong Kong.
The Style
The collection is intentionally season-less, and the brand’s ethos is ‘buy less, buy better’ so you can expect quality and longevity at the forefront. The simple, functional and stylish pieces are hand-woven using locally sourced natural, raw materials – including the finest locally grown plant based fibres like bamboo and atta grass, both of which are entirely regenerative. There are also luxury woven leather bags in the collection, as well as everyday totes and small bucket bags. As expected, every detail is fully considered – from the natural canvas linings with multi functional pockets and recycled alloy hardware to the straps that are woven from sailing rope and jacquard.
