This Cool Stylist Shares Her Little Black Book
The coolest piece I’ve ever found on my travels is a linen Celine top from Phoebe Philo’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection. I found it in a second-hand store called IBlameLulu in Copenhagen.
The coolest boutique in the world is The Broken Arm in Paris. They have a great selection of new and more well-known designers. It’s also a great spot for people watching.
The best concept store in the world is Totokaelo – before closing as a result of Covid, they had a great selection of fashion, beauty and interiors. I really like their curated approach – I haven’t really found anything like it yet. I also loved the aesthetic of The Line in New York, before it closed.
The best destination for independent stores is Amsterdam, especially for interiors and design. Casa Gitane is another favourite for homeware (they also have an online store), Moise for fashion (they stock brands like Jacquemus, Totême, All Blues and Lemaire) and Laura Dols has a beautiful selection of vintage clothing and accessories.
The best department store in the world is Galeries Lafayette in Paris. As well as a great selection of designers, they also have two chic restaurants which Jacquemus worked on in collaboration with Caviar Kaspia.
The coolest under-the-radar brand is the Jacqueline Rabun jewellery designs for Georg Jensen – they’re like pieces of art you can wear. Other brands I always gravitate towards are Totême, Jacquemus, Sophie Buhai, Cecilie Bahnsen and Saks Potts.
My perfect shopping day would include coming across new shops, designers and things I didn’t anticipate buying. Also, lots of good food, coffee and a glass of wine with good company.
The best people watching in the world is done in Copenhagen – it’s one of my favourite cities in the world. The people dress really well, but always look like they haven’t put too much effort in.
The coolest resort label is Tove Studios. Their designs are timeless, wearable and sustainable.
The best brand for swimwear is Lido, an independent swimwear brand from Venice. Their pieces fit really well and are super comfortable. I wear my swimsuits as tops all the time.
The best brand for basics is Totême. It’s my go-to. Their designs are simple but always interesting in terms of cut and fabric.
I never walk away empty handed from Wholefoods or IKEA.
The best vintage store in the world is Epoca Vintage in Florence – they have a great selection of vintage designer pieces. There’s a nice bookshop/wine bar across from it, too.
My favourite vintage piece I’ve ever bought is a black granny bag I found in a vintage store in the Netherlands. I’ve used it so much.
If I could only wear one brand again, it would be Phoebe Philo for Celine or Totême.
There are so many great sustainable brands at the moment. My favourites are Bite Studios, Caes, Another Tomorrow and Maggie Marilyn.
For something really special, I buy Sophie Buhai’s jewellery pieces, which feel very personal and one of a kind. I also enjoy shopping on SSENSE as they have such a great selection of new designers.
The best fashion gift I’ve ever given was some Thom Browne shoes.
The best fashion gift I’ve ever received is my Celine handbag, which my boyfriend found on Vestiaire Collective. It’s a small black Trotteur bag from the Phoebe Philo era. I had always dreamt of owning one of her bags. This one is the perfect size and goes with everything.
