Me & My Instagram: Carrole Sagba
The image I wasn’t sure whether to post or not was…
taken after an afternoon of shooting. I liked my smile and although I only took it for fun, to show off my Hermès scarf, I thought it deserved to be posted.
The person who takes most of my Instagram pictures is…
my boyfriend. He’s my biggest fan and when you’re a content creator, you need a partner who knows the game, so I am very grateful to him for helping me out. I’m sure he’s quite relieved now that Edward has taken over for some looks!
The photo that sums up my Instagram the most is…
this one. I’m a positive, determined person who follows her path… my strut backs that up!
My standard pose is…
usually walking around looking at the lens, only because I don’t know what else to do! Despite being shy, most of my shoots end up taking place outside where there are a lot of curious people, so moving around makes me feel more comfortable.
The way I edit my photos is…
with FaceTune and sometimes Photoshop, but often I just use the editing functions on Instagram to play with brightness and contrast. I don't like retouching my photos too much – it’s important to project a message of self-acceptance – so if you zoom in you’ll see the imperfections.
The fashion piece that features the most is…
my Hermès Kelly bag. No matter is the outfit, it always adds a touch of elegance.
My most saved picture is…
from a few years ago, after I met the creators of Istanbul-based outerwear brand ColoReve. When they offered to give me this pretty trench, I immediately accepted. It’s so important to support emerging brands.
My most used hashtags are…
#Parisian and #BlackCreativesMatter. A lot of creators neglect this element, but if you ask me, using hashtags is one of the best ways to promote your account.
My most liked picture is…
this simple look with a blazer and my favourite Levi’s jeans. If I’m honest, though, this post was probably successful because of the other pieces – like the Jodie bag by Bottega Veneta and the JW Anderson mules. It’s all about the power of great accessories.
Stories are for…
sharing Parisian architecture, any goodies I’ve received and my favourite restaurants. I’d love to be the kind of person who talks about anything and everything, but my shyness takes over – I’m trying to make more of an effort to chat on stories, though.
I wish I had never posted…
this moment of gluttony, devouring some pizza in New York. It was our first trip to the city, and I remember getting up very early to enjoy Manhattan. As you can tell, I was pretty hungry, so we grabbed a pizza from a food truck. I have to say it was one of the best slices I’ve ever had.
To get the right shot, it takes…
the right frame, good accessories and being yourself.
I try to upload pictures that…
tell a story and show part of my personality. Every look usually expresses my mood for that day.
The picture that was hardest to get was…
taken by myself with my tripod in a crowded park, where lots of people were walking around. I’m sure you can see the embarrassment in my eyes, but I’m pleased with how it came out.
My favourite Instagram outfit is…
from my first photoshoot with photographer Edward Bertholet, who works for Getty Images. I prepped this look two weeks prior, but at the last minute I changed the shoes to some knee-high boots. A good idea as it turned out, as the photo ended up being featured by several magazines.
My favourite person to follow on Instagram is…
Rikke Krefting (@RikkeKrefting). I just love her aesthetic.
My favourite image of myself is…
this one. I’m wearing a Loewe skirt, which I’d wanted for ages. With the lockdown, I haven’t had that many opportunities to wear it yet, but it was fun to put on for the picture.
My coolest setting has been…
on the terrace of The View Hotel in Monument Valley, Arizona. I was dazzled by this sunset – it really accentuated the colour of the landscape.
The image that makes me happiest is…
technically a video, from a road trip to the Grand Canyon. My boyfriend and I had an impromptu picnic at sunset, which was so memorable.
My favourite holiday photo is…
another one in New York, this time on the roof of the Top of the Rock. It’s so dizzying to find yourself high up among all the skyscrapers, but people were kind enough to give us space to take this beautiful picture.
One word to describe my account would be…
chic, of course.
