Home By Simon Rogan

Home by Simon Rogan – the home delivery meals from the multi-Michelin-starred chef behind restaurants including L’Enclume and Aulis – offers an excellent monthly selection of next-level meal boxes. Created by Simon’s team in the Lake District, February’s dishes include ibis celeriac velouté with parsley oil and crispy fruit cracker; stuffed guinea hen with confit and pickled carrots with kale; spiced cake with citrus jam, toasted almond and infused honey cream. Looking ahead to March, the menu includes white onion soup with confit baby onions, spring onion oil and pickled walnut purée; pressed lamb belly with crushed new potatoes with a salsify crisp and parsley; and a Bakewell slice with rhubarb jam, marigold dried sponge cake and marigold oil.

Dishoom

If you love Indian food, Dishoom is the meal delivery service to know. For something a little different, order in one of its famed bacon naan kits, which now comes with a ‘Marmalade Mimosa’, made with marmalade liqueur, fresh ruby grapefruit and Integrale natural sparkling wine. The kit contains everything you need for a fun brunch, alongside spices and loose-leaf tea to make the restaurant’s chai. Best of all, for every kit you order, the restaurant group donates a meal to Magic Breakfast. For an evening meal or relaxed weekend lunch, we love its feasting boxes. New this month is its Chicken Ruby kit, which includes many of Dishoom’s much loved items including chicken ruby, naan, bhel, basmati rice, tenderstem broccoli and house black daal – plus a gulkand mess for afters: strawberries in rose syrup served with fresh cream and meringue.

The River Café

It’s not the cheapest option on this list, but you can’t go wrong with a feast from The River Café, one of the capital’s most-loved restaurants. While the team has wound down its collection of feasting boxes post-pandemic, it is still possible to whip up an impressive meal at home using its most recent collection of pastas, sauces and cakes. We suggest opting for a box of Cipriani pasta and a couple of jars of sauce – think lemon, rocket and crème fraîche; amatriciana; and pork ragù – finished with one of founder Ruthie Rogers’ chocolate nemesis cakes or a couple of scoops of gelato.

At this time of year, dishes could include duck liver and truffle parfait served with brioche, followed by seared beef rump with a red wine jus and finishing with a salted caramel chocolate fondant served with toffee apple sauce.
