X Of The Best Party Playlists On Spotify

From the decorations to the food, there’s plenty that goes into making a Christmas event memorable. To take one thing off your list, we’ve compiled a selection of Spotify playlists that are guaranteed to get the party started…

FOR A BIG SINGALONG:

Sing Through The Decades

It can be hard catering to the music tastes of the entire family. Luckily, Spotify’s Sing Through The Decades playlist has over five hours of hits to keep everyone happy. From Hall & Oates’s ‘Maneater’ to Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Go Your Own Way’ and Natasha Bedingfield’s ‘These Words’, your voices will be hoarse from all the singing.

FOR DANCE ANTHEMS:

Pete Tong’s Essential Selection Radio Playlist

Legendary Ibiza DJ Pete Tong is one of the most celebrated names in dance music. Curated by Pete himself, this playlist has over ten hours of new and throwback anthems from the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Fred Again, Four Tet, The Martinez Brothers and Major Lazer.

FOR NEW POP:

Hits 2024

If your idea of a great party starts with the biggest songs of the year, this playlist by Topsify features today's top chart hits and new releases from around the world. Some of our favourites in there include ‘Good Luck Babe’ by Chappell Roan, ‘Apple’ by Charli XCX and ‘That’s So True’ by Gracie Abrams. It’s updated weekly so you can enjoy it year-round.

FOR GETTING READY:

’Fit Check

When it comes to Spotify’s musician playlist collabs, it doesn’t get much cooler than Erykah Badu. She brings her confident, sultry vibes to this heady mix of neo-soul, hip-hop, jazz, rap and funk – the list includes recent hits like ‘Back On 74’ by Jungle, ‘Protect My Energy’ by Little Simz, as well as older favourites like ‘Millionaire’ by Kelis.

FOR OLD-SCHOOL TUNES:

Noughties 00s Throwback

Music platform Filtr has created a playlist reflective of the decade that gave us Nokia 3310s, MySpace, Big Brother – and some of the best pop tunes. Natasha Bedingfield, Kelly Clarkson, Mario, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Beyoncé and Lady Gaga are all part of the line-up.

FOR CLUBBY SOUNDS:

Defected 2024 Best House & Club Tracks

Whether you like your beats minimal and techy or bouncy and house-y, Defected Records is a label to know. It has a few public playlists on its profile, but our pick is this year’s Best House & Club Tracks. It contains over 24 hours of music from the likes of Armand Van Helden, Julio Bashmore, Todd Terje, Crazy P, Moby and Soulsearcher.

FOR TASTEFUL CHRISTMAS SONGS:

Christmas Americana

Tasteful Christmas songs may sound like an oxymoron, but in-the-know Spotify profile Songpickr has cooler renditions of the classics – like Bob Dylan’s ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ – as well as some soulful, cosy festive songs such as ‘Christmas Calling’ by Norah Jones.

FOR THE AFTER PARTY:

Drumsheds Season 3

The Ikea-turned-superclub venue Drumsheds has gone some way to fill the void that Printworks left when it closed last year. If you’re hosting after hours, the Tottenham venue’s official Season 3 playlist will keep the party going with everything from The Streets to Girls Of The Internet and The Chemical Brothers.

FOR A HOUSE PARTY:

Soho House Night

Soho House takes its music seriously. Its Night playlist is ideal for the first half of a party, before guests inevitably add their favourite songs to the queue. Crowd-pleasers include tracks by Diana Ross, Grace Jones, Talking Heads and Prince, with classic Motown tunes thrown in for good measure.

FOR FLOOR-FILLERS:

Disco Forever

There’s something about disco that can encourage even the most reluctant dancer to move their feet. This playlist is perfect for that point in the evening when everyone is feeling merry and ready to shed their heels (and their inhibitions). Cut some shapes to the likes of Earth, Wind & Fire, Donna Summer and Sister Sledge.

FOR INDIE DIE-HARDS:

Indie Sleaze

For those who look back on the skinny jean-filled haze of noughties indie sleaze with fondness, The Dare has crafted a throwback playlist. On the track list you’ll find ‘Walking On A Dream’ by Empire Of The Sun, ‘You Only Live Once’ by The Strokes and ‘Acceptable In The 80s’ by Calvin Harris, among others.

FOR CLUBBING ANTHEMS:

Ministry Of Sound: The Annual 2024

As well as running some of the best dance nights in London, Ministry of Sound always releases a killer album to mark the end of the year. This playlist highlights the best dance and electronic tunes from the past 12 months – including hits from Patrick Topping, Oliver Heldens, Eats Everything, Ewan McVicar and Disclosure – as well as updated Ibiza classics.

FOR CROWD PLEASERS:

House Party

Get the party started with this long edit of dance and house music. It starts off with songs by Secondcity, Blonde, Gorgon City and Route 94, before moving onto tracks by Wilkinson, Anne-Marie and Duke Dumont.
