The New Wedding & Honeymoon Destination To Know

Sandals is an adults-only, luxury collection of all-inclusive beach resorts across seven Caribbean islands. Ideal for both weddings and honeymoons, the resorts offer everything from ceremonies on private beaches to striking accommodation, five-star restaurants and plenty of activities. Here’s everything you need to know about the group’s newest destination on the beautiful island of Curaçao…

Created in partnership with SANDALS

Each of Sandals’ seven island destinations showcase the best of the Caribbean, from waterfalls and palm forests to pristine white sandy beaches and striking sunsets. Guests can choose from Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Antigua, The Bahamas, Grenada, Barbados, and – new for summer 2022 – Curaҫao. Whether you’re looking to book a wedding, honeymoon or combine both, here’s what Sandals offers brides and grooms at its newest destination.

The Location

Sandals Royal Curaçao is within the exclusive, 3,000-acre Santa Barbara estate on the Dutch-inspired island of Curaçao – just 15 miles from Curaçao International Airport. Famous for its vibrant culture, pristine beaches and coves, Curaçao is home to 65 spectacular dive sites and exotic marine ecosystems, making it a great choice for adventurous couples. The resort’s west-facing position on the southernmost part of the island combines nature with a full resort experience. It’s also perfectly placed for couples to capture one of the Caribbean’s most spectacular sunsets.

The Resort

Along 3,000 acres on Spanish Water Bay, this is a romantic getaway with 350 rooms and suites. At the centre of the property, couples will find the brand’s first ever bi-level Dos Awa Infinity Pool, with views overlooking the bay and rugged mountain landscape beyond. Also new for Sandals is a fleet of stylish convertible Mini Coopers that guests in select room categories can use to explore the island.

The Accomodation

From Melemele Walkout Suites to Sunchi Beachfront Suites, the locally inspired accommodation overlooks both private lagoons and the Curaçao coast. Sandals Royal Curaçao includes two new signature suite categories: the Awa Seaside Butler Bungalows and Kurason Island Poolside Butler Bungalows, which all come with tranquillity soaking tubs, private pools and a butler service.

The Food & Drink Offering

The resort offers an impressive 11 culinary hotspots, including eight restaurants – seven of which are new to the brand and only available at this resort. There are also three beachside food trucks and 13 bars. Some of the new concepts include Aolos, home to an open-air Mediterranean dining experience; Vincent, an homage to the famous Dutch painter with a European fusion menu; and Toteki, a food truck serving traditional Curaçao fare.

Sandals Royal Curaçao also offers the brand’s first ever off-site dining programme, Island Inclusive, which expands the resort’s all-inclusive dining options to encompass eight restaurants around the island. Valid on seven-night minimum stays, the programme is available exclusively to guests in Butler suites or Sandals Select Rewards loyalty guests who have reached Pearl status or higher.

The Wedding Package

Couples can pull together their dream day from a huge range of options, with a team of personal wedding planners on hand to help bring the event to life. From seating and cocktails to music and entertainment, each venue has all the foundations in place for couples to create their wedding. The team will also look after the smaller details, so couples can rest assured everything will be taken care of before their arrival on the island. Case in point: a team of document specialists will make sure the legal part of the process is simple and stress free.

Best of all, when couples stay for three nights or more, the wedding itself will be included in the cost of the holiday. And when couples stay for seven nights or more, they’ll get perks worth up to $1,500 – think a room upgrade, photographer or candlelit dinner. The cost-free wedding elements include an eye-catching ceremony venue (on a beach or in a lush garden), bouquet, boutonniere, tableware, wedding cake and a honeymoon breakfast in bed. With the essentials taken care of, any investment couples choose to make will go towards customising the big day with personal touches and fun extras.
