Where To Find The Best Ice Cream In London
Crème, Soho
Technically, this is a cookie shop, but no one cares when there’s soft serve involved. Crème's cookies have gone viral (and for good reason – they’re thick, gooey and delicious), but the miso salted caramel soft serve is the real secret weapon. Served in a cookie cup or classic cone, it’s rich, salty-sweet and very much worth the hype.

Gelupo, Soho
Slick, stylish and oozing with Italian charm, Gelupo is the kind of place you stumble into for one scoop and leave with an entire tub. The Sicilian pistachio is our top recommendation, and the ricotta and sour cherry flavour also has to be tried to be believed. This is proper gelato, made fresh on site.

Chin Chin, Soho & Camden
If you’ve seen billowing clouds of nitrogen and gooey marshmallow-topped cones on your TikTok, chances are it was at Chin Chin. These dessert scientists serve molecular ice cream made to order with liquid nitrogen – think velvety textures and flavours like burnt butter caramel or coffee and olive oil. Don’t skip the warm brownie sundae or the iconic hot chocolate topped with torched marshmallow fluff.

Bubblewrap, Soho, South Kensington & Westfield
These waffle cones are bubble-shaped, Instagram-friendly and stuffed with gelato, fruit, biscuits and more sugar than you’d give a six-year-old. Bubblewrap brought Hong Kong-style egg waffles to London and created a round-the-block queue situation in the process. The signature cone is warm and chewy, ready to be filled with scoop flavours like matcha, mango or classic vanilla, plus toppings like crushed Oreos, fudge sauce or mochi.

Ruby Violet, King’s Cross & Tufnell Park
If Wes Anderson opened an ice-cream parlour, it would look like this – retro tiling, pretty pastels and flavours like damson and sour cream or plum and star anise. Made in small batches using local, organic ingredients, Ruby Violet offers grown-up gelato with a twist. It also serves booze-infused scoops if you’re in the mood.

Soft Serve Society, Shoreditch
This East London cult spot is all about outrageous soft serve creations that live rent-free on TikTok. Charcoal vanilla, matcha green tea and bubble tea floats are all on the menu, as is candy floss, popcorn and syringes of sauce. It’s theatrical, indulgent and made to be posted. But crucially, it also tastes really good.

Birley Bakery, Chelsea
Birley is best known for its gold-dusted croissants and art deco interiors, but its gelato range also deserves a mention. The citrus and herbs sorbet is summer in a scoop – minty, zesty and really refreshing. Meanwhile, the honey, almond and nougat flavour is all creamy crunch, thanks to added roasted pistachios and candied citrus peel. Catch us sunbathing outside Chelsea Green with a cone in each hand.

Nardulli, Clapham
Tucked behind Clapham Common, Nardulli is low-key legendary. Run by an Italian family, this place serves seriously good gelato that doesn’t mess about – just creamy, old-school scoops with none of the gimmicks. Favourites include nocciola, stracciatella and lemon sorbet. You can’t go wrong.

Happy Endings
Again, not a classic ice-cream parlour, but these ice-cream sandwiches deserve a shoutout. Created by chef Terri Mercieca, Happy Endings mixes indulgent flavours with chef-y attention to detail – think malty miso caramel, Vietnamese coffee or the iconic ‘Play Wicked’ (salted milk ice cream between chocolate Guinness cake). Look for them in foodie spots like Lina Stores, Eataly and Selfridges.
