Everything We're Booking This Summer

Whether it's in London, down at the coast or something further afield, it's fair to say the LG team has a lot going on this summer. Here’s what we’re most excited about…

Summer has finally hit London, making the weekends that much more fun. As Wimbledon approaches, I plan to watch the matches with friends at Eccleston Yards. I'm also excited to book an evening at Mu in Dalston to enjoy live jazz and the Japanese-influenced menu. Other sunny weekends in the city will likely be spent at The People’s Park Tavern – a great spot to catch up with friends.

I’m also heading off for a long weekend in New York, which will include a sunset Keinemusik gig at the Brooklyn Mirage and daily bagels from Black Seed Bagels. I also plan to explore the Scottish Highlands – I’ll be staying at the cosy Foyers Lodge on Loch Ness.

Festival season is well underway and after ticking off a few already this summer – Wide Awake, Cross The Tracks and soon, Glastonbury – I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for some cool day fests around London. All Points East is always a good time, and Loyle Carner is headlining this year, so I’m hoping to get some tickets.

If I go ‘out out’, I'll be at Brilliant Corners, a cool, jazzy sushi bar-turned-club in East London. It feels like a New York-style bar; the music is amazing with a sound system to match, and the spicy margs are great. Corsica Studios’ summer line-up is also looking pretty good, and I’ll be heading to Netil360 for a sauna and a sundowner at some point.

I’m definitely booking in to watch my favourite Sofia Coppola film, Lost In Translation, at Roof East’s film club. I’m also keen to see Denise Gough in People, Places, Things at the Trafalgar Theatre. Besides festivals and theatre, I'll be watching the Euros and probably commiserating in a pub somewhere in south London.

Every summer I take a day trip down to Rye and Camber Sands. Rye is a lovely town with so many cute cafés and boutiques to explore, and you can end the day with a sunset picnic on the sandy beach. The weather in London in summer isn’t always guaranteed, so on a rainy day I would love to visit Pinot & Picasso in Shoreditch. Learning how to paint with drinks on offer… what more could you want? I also have a few foodie spots in London I want to try. If you haven’t heard of the tiramisu iced latte from Cup + Lid, where have you been? It’s all over my TikTok and I can’t wait to try it. Pockets is a plant-based pitta bar in Hackney – it looks so delicious and would make for an easy lunch on a sunny day.

Finally, at the end of summer, I’ve booked a trip to Montenegro. I really wanted to visit a new country this year, so this seemed like the perfect option. I have planned to spend some time in Kotor to see the beautiful bay and port, then I’ll be heading down to the beach in Budva.

I can't believe I've never been to Devon – so this summer, I'm really keen to book a trip down there. Cove Valley is a spot I discovered on Instagram and I’ve been dreaming of spending a chill weekend there ever since.

Elsewhere, I've booked in with some friends to go to The Hero, which is from the team behind The Bull at Charlbury. I'm excited to see how they put a fresh twist on pub food this summer. Finally, another minibreak I'd love to book in is a trip to Copenhagen – likely during Fashion Week. I'm keen to go to the Hay store to pick up some of my favourites for less, as well as visit the Ganni outlet.

I've been meaning to visit Brighton for ages and I'm finally planning a weekend there to do some vintage shopping and of course, check out the pier. London can get expensive quickly, so one of the free events that I'll be attending is the 'Jazz Refreshed' event on the South Bank. It's a not-for-profit event that showcases new musical talent. I'm also a huge foodie, I've booked tickets to Pub In The Park this summer, which is a big outdoor festival with live music and food from a selection of top chefs. Finally, no London summer would be complete without a trip to the outdoor cinema in King's Cross to watch a bit of Wimbledon.
