Kick off your late-May bank-holiday weekend in Brockwell Park with Wide Awake, where you can enjoy the best in leftfield indie, post-punk, electronica, techno, jazz and more. This year’s line-up features Irish punk-hip-hop trio Kneecap, CMAT, English Teacher, Cobrah, Sprints and Peaches.

Cross The Tracks

The south London festival scene is thriving and Cross The Tracks is one of its crown jewels. Held in Brockwell Park, this soul, funk and jazz fest will see Michael Kiwanuka, Ezra Collective, Jordan Rakei, Gilles Peterson, Naomi Sharon and Sinéad Harnett take to the stage. This one’s more laidback than the others – just picture yourself relaxing on the grass with a drink in hand and the sounds of groovy soul filling the air.

This Peckham festival is another highlight of the south London scene. Set in leafy Peckham Rye Park, it’s livelier than Cross The Tracks. Expect varied vibes over the weekend: bass-heavy Friday, high-octane Saturday and a chill Sunday. The line-up reads like your cool mate’s Spotify playlist, with Caribou, Hunee, Ben UFO, Kink and Moodymann all on the bill.

Hidden in the Welsh woods at Carreglwyd Estate, Gottwood is a boutique festival where nature and music come together. Across ten stages tucked away in the forest, you’ll experience a unique mix of dance, soul, disco, electronic and tech. British Summer Time

Hyde Park’s British Summer Time Festival is one of the biggest events in the music calendar, spread across multiple dates in June and July. This year’s headliners include angsty pop princess Olivia Rodrigo, Zac Bryan, Noah Kahan, Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts and Sabrina Carpenter. Jazz Cafe Festival

Camden’s legendary Jazz Cafe has been a staple of the London nightlife scene for 35 years. For the second time, it’s taking its festival to Burgess Park, staying true to its roots with a programme of jazz, RnB, hip hop and electronic artists. Headlining this year’s event is the world-renowned saxophonist and singer Masego (aka Micah Davis), who’s known for blending jazz, hip hop and R&B.

Boomtown Fair

For those with eclectic tastes, Boomtown in Hampshire is your festival. This immersive event blends music and experience, with a lineup that’s heavy on drum ’n’ bass, punk and reggae. Acts like Maribou State, Sean Paul, Sex Pistols and Hybrid Minds are set to perform, all in a vibrant, immersive atmosphere that’s part festival, part adventure.

Big Smoke

Skepta’s Big Smoke is one of London’s newest festival gems. With a roster curated by the grime legend himself, it’s already one of the capital’s coolest events. Last year’s lineup included The Streets, Mahalia and JME. This year’s remains under wraps, but it’s sure to be just as exciting.

Lincolnshire’s Lost Village is an experience like no other. Imagine stumbling into an abandoned town with eerie woods, old airports and mysterious scenes. Sziget Festival

Hungary’s Sziget Festival is massive by any measure, attracting over 350,000 revellers across seven days. Helsinki’s Flow Festival is one of the best – and biggest – city-based festivals in Europe. With Charli XCX, Bicep, Joy Orbison and Khruangbin all on the slate this year, the remarkable location on a former industrial site makes for a laidback yet lively event. Plus, the food is some of the best.
