Emily Beaney’s Current Favourite Things
THE MVP BRAND
I love De Nova Artem. It’s a small, women-led business that’s kind to the planet – plus it has the most gorgeous items that are girly and so stylish.
THE GO-TO OUTFIT
It changes every week, but this week I’ve loved styling my mum's vintage jacket. The tag says ‘Viyella’ and it is a beautiful, classic, gothic-looking piece. I’m not usually someone who goes for an all-black fit, but this jacket has enough character that it works. I’ve been styling it with baggy black jeans, a black belt, some black DMs and my gorgeous upcycled bag by The Zur.
THE DENIM
The best jeans are vintage! My favourite pairs are from the charity shop.
THE TRAINERS
I’m usually a leather shoe gal – loafers and Mary Janes are my footwear of choice. If I had to pick a favourite pair of trainers, my green Adidas Spezials are up there for sure. I love the pop of colour they bring to any look.
THE OUTERWEAR
At this time of year, I rotate between liner-style jackets and trenches. Both are so great for layering over chunkier pieces.
THE HAIR ACCESSORY
A giant scrunchy is a must-have for me. It makes every outfit look better. Bonus – it also makes my head look less like an egg when my hair is pulled back.
THE COLOUR
I’m loving olive green right now. It’s just the perfect shade for a cute bag or pair of heels. I don’t actually like olives, but the colour is to die for.
THE CHARITY SHOP
If there is a Traid, I am probably in it. It’s my go-to charity shop because it always has a huge volume of stock and the most unique items. Plus, the fitting rooms are well sized, meaning you can properly try pieces on.
THE UPCYCLING TIP
There are endless ways you can make your clothes more interesting with safety pins. You can use them to cuff your jeans or to change the length of a skirt. They can also pin a shirt in a fun way or even be used as cool buttons on a blouse.
THE PHONE CASE
This is embarrassing, as I’d love to say I have a beautiful case with bows all over. I actually have a pretty standard clear case, but I am justifying this with the fact I have a Words To Heal You sticker to jazz it up. It says: “The world is better with you in it,” which is such a lovely, important message to look back on every day.
THE RIDE-OR-DIE BEAUTY PICKS
My make-up routine is pretty stripped back. I start with Drunk Elephant’s tinted daily SPF then apply some of the Merit Beauty Flush balm for a pop of colour. I’ll finish with a Rare Beauty lip oil – it’s super hydrating and has a subtle tint. When it comes to hair, Glaze Super Gloss is such a hero. I also love The Inkey List for its gentle serums. Finally, My Way by Giorgio Armani is my favourite fragrance.
THE FOODIE FAVOURITES
My drink order around this time of year is always a chai tea latte. The spices are just delicious. I’ve been cooking a lot of paella, and smoked salmon and avocado on sourdough for brekkie. I also just had the best chips ever at Portobello 177 in Notting Hill.
THE UNDER-THE-RADAR-FOLLOWS
@CarolineStordal is a Scandi girl who is just so sweet. If you want a good laugh, you need to follow @TheBellairs (thank me later).
