St Andrew’s Lake, Kent

For A Day Trip

For a fun day out with the girls, St Andrew’s Lake is near Rochester in Kent, just an hour’s train journey from London. There’s a range of water-based activities to choose from, as well as floating lodges with decking areas and private hot tubs. The venue is located on a former quarry but has been transformed into an aqua park with inflatable activity courses and paddleboards. Guests can book open water swimming sessions, scuba diving lessons and slots on the climbing walls. Once you’ve explored the lake, stop by the beach café for cheese toasties and drinks.

Tropea, Italy

For A Beach Holiday

For a more affordable and laidback Italian getaway, Tropea in southern Italy is a great choice. Quieter and less touristy, it’s known for its dramatic cliffs and beautiful sunsets. It also has some of the best beaches in the south, as well as a picturesque town with winding lanes, buzzy piazzas and colourful houses. You’ll also find a small, beautiful cathedral, traditional trattorias and several gelaterias. You won’t find many hotels, so we recommend booking an Airbnb for a fun girls’ trip. This apartment is an affordable and chic option (sleeping up to six which works out at around just £40pppn) overlooking the beach. Interiors are simple and fresh and the main town is only a few minutes away.

Antigua, Guatemala

For A Bucket-List Trip

Guatemala is getting a lot of traction on TikTok right now thanks to its diverse landscape and natural wonders – think volcanoes, nature reserves and lagoons. Any trip to Guatemala should include the former capital Antigua, now a Unesco World Heritage Site. With a cool combination of romantic ruins and historic architecture dating back nearly 500 years, you’ll find long cobblestone streets lined with pretty pastel-coloured houses, boutique hotels, smart shops, galleries, and buzzing cafés and restaurants. Selina is a fun hostel for the start of your trip in Guatemala. With colourful interiors and cool communal areas, the hostel runs regular hikes to nearby volcanoes as well as shared dinners at the restaurant.

Thanks to its beautiful landscape, relaxed eateries and bohemian bars, Milos is the perfect easy-going break. One of the most magical spots to visit is Sarakiniko Beach, a moonscape style swimming spot made entirely from solid lava that’s been bleached white by the sun. It also has plenty of natural diving platforms and a sandy cove carved into the rock that opens up into the sea. If you’re after a comfy sun lounger, head to Firiplanka Beach, which is just a short walk from Tsigrado Beach – another great place for swimming. For something more unique, set yourself up at Paliochori and get lunch cooked in the volcanic sand delivered right to your sunbed. A boat tour of Kleftiko Caves – a series of caves and lagoons – also makes for a great day out. For a couples’ break, book into Salt Milos hotel to the north of the island.

Lake Bled, Slovenia

For An Outdoorsy Weekend

Often overlooked in favour of Croatia and Italy, Slovenia is just as pretty and comes with an abundance of mountains, waterfalls, gorges and rolling valleys. One of the most scenic spots is Lake Bled with its turquoise water and medieval castle set high on the rocks. Bled is the country’s most popular resort with endless options for hiking, biking, kayaking and other water sports. Stockholm Archipelago

For Scandi Vibes

Stockholm is a seriously cool year-round destination, but the city’s surrounding islands feel particularly buzzy during the summer months. With nearly 30,000 islands and islets to explore, you could easily spend a few weeks hopping between a few to visit rocky cliffs, nature reserves and sandy beaches. There’s also an array of wildlife to spot along the way, from wild ponies to fallow deer and sea eagles. The closest island is Fjäderholmarna, a 30-minute boat ride from Stockholm, while Dalarö and Vaxholm are both an hour away. Most visitors take the Waxholmsbolaget ferries to the islands, which runs regular services across the whole region. Visitors can enjoy bike rides, guided fishing trips, fresh-water swimming and sea safaris.
