5 TikTok Noodle Recipes To Try At Home

Nothing brings immediate comfort like a hot bowl of noodles, and there are fewer cheaper suppers out there. TikTok is full of easy recipes to try at home – all you need is an instant packet. From chicken katsu ramen to chilli oil noodles, here are five of our favourite recipes…

Chilli Oil Ramen

Serves: 1, Total Time: 10 minutes 

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 packet of Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodles
  • 1 tsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tsp of sesame seeds
  • One garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 tsp of vegetable oil
  • 2 spring onions, chopped
  • 1 egg

METHOD

  1. Cook the noodles in boiling water for 3.5 minutes until al dente.
  2. Drain and rinse in cold water to stop them cooking.
  3. Add two thirds of the packet seasoning into a bowl with a crack of black pepper, the soy sauce, sesame seeds, and garlic.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a hot pan for a couple of minutes, then add it to the mixture in the bowl to cook the spices.
  5. Stir together and add the packet noodles to combine.
  6. Fry an egg in a pan and add to the bowl of noodles. Top with spring onions to serve.

Creamy Ramen

Serves: 1, Total Time: 10 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 packet of Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodles
  • Two garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp of Kewpie Mayonnaise

METHOD

  1. Add the crushed garlic, egg and mayo to a bowl and mix together in a ramen bowl.
  2. Stir in the seasoning packet from the ramen noodles.
  3. Cook the packet noodles according the instructions and add the cooked noodles and water to create a ramen in the bowl.
  4. Stir to combine and serve hot.

Chicken Katsu Ramen

Serves: 1, Total Time: 25 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 packet of Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodles
  • 1 tbsp of mirin
  • ½ vegetable stock cube
  • 2 eggs 
  • 1 chicken breast
  • 2 tbsp of plain flour
  • 4 tbsp of vegetable oil
  • 100g of mushrooms, chopped
  • 150g of bok choy

METHOD

  1. Add 550ml of water to a pan. Add in the stock cube, packet seasoning and mirin. Stir and bring to the boil.
  2. Meanwhile, boil the egg for a about 5 minutes (or 10 if you like it hard boiled).
  3. Prepare three bowls with the flour, beaten egg, and panko bread crumbs.
  4. Coat the chicken breast in the flour and dip it into egg before coating it with the bread crumbs.
  5. Shallow fry the chicken in a hot pan with the oil for about 7-8 minutes, until tender and crispy on the outside.
  6. Add the mushrooms, noodles and packet seasoning to the pan of water and cook for a few minutes.
  7. Add in the bok choy and cook for 2 more minutes, before transferring the ramen to a bowl.
  8. Top with the chicken and egg to serve.

Kylie Jenner’s Ramen

Serves: 1, Total Time: 10 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 packet of instant chicken flavoured noodles
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp of salted butter
  • 1 tsp of garlic powder

METHOD

  1. Whisk an egg in a bowl.
  2. Cook the noodles according to the packet and add in the packet seasoning.
  3. Once cooked, drain half of the water, and mix in the egg.
  4. Stir in the butter and garlic powder, then serve hot.

Cheesy Kimchi Ramen

Serves: 1, Total Time: 10 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 packet of Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodles
  • 70ml milk
  • 2 tbsp of kimchi juice
  • 60g of grated cheddar
  • 1 packet of chilli kimchi
  • 2 spring onions, chopped

METHOD

  1. Cook the noodles in a pot of boiling water for three minutes.
  2. Add in the milk, packet seasoning and kimchi juice, and cook for another 2 minutes.
  3. Add in the cheddar, and cook for another 2 minutes
  4. Transfer to a bowl and top with the kimchi and spring onions to serve.
