7 New Foundations For Mature Skin
For Long-Lasting Coverage…
Touche Éclat Le Teint Foundation, £32.30 (was £38) | Yves Saint Laurent
You can always rely on YSL for good coverage. Its latest foundation really goes the distance – you won’t need to touch it up throughout the day, while the glowy boost it gives skin is second to none. It dries matte, but never feels too thick or occlusive – instead, it’s breathable and buildable with a consistency that absorbs fast without settling into any fine lines. A couple of pumps is all you need to cover your entire face. The shade range is impressive too.

For A Barely-There-Feel…
Beauty Balm Tinted Skin Veil, £13.56 (was £15.95) | No7
For an affordable option, you can’t beat this skin veil from No7. Full of brightening and hydrating ingredients – think vitamin E, C and rosehip oil – it coats skin in moisture and soft coverage that looks healthy and luminous. Unlike some BB creams, this blends really seamlessly, smoothing out everything from dark circles to pigmentation and inflammation. It’s incredibly lightweight, too, so you barely feel it throughout the day.

For Skin Benefits…
True Skin Serum Foundation, £52 | Ilia
Combining sun protection, skincare and great coverage in one velvety formula, this is so much more than your average foundation. It benefits from hyaluronic acid, squalane and niacinamide, keeping the skin calm, smooth and free of redness. As for the actual pigment, it’s light and sheer, but rich enough to cover everything from dark circles to sunspots and uneven texture. Plus, it’s formulated without any silicone, oils or fragrance, so you never have to worry about clogging up your pores or causing irritation.

For A Healthy Glow…
CC+ Nude Glow Skin Tint, £33 | IT Cosmetics
If you loved the original CC, you’ll like this one even more. It’s been reformulated to give skin a healthy dose of radiance and moisture – the latter is thanks to the ingredients inside, of which 90% are skincare heavyweights. These include hyaluronic acid, anti-reddening niacinamide and green tea extract. Each one works in tandem to nourish, strengthen and plump skin for a healthier and more youthful appearance. The coverage is better than before too – still light, but enough to smooth out dark circles, age spots and any redness. It stays on the skin for hours, too, with no creasing or sliding about.

For A Sheer Tint…
Vital Skincare Complexion Drops, £62 | Westman Atelier
These come with endless five-star reviews and it’s easy to see why. Just a few drops will give your complexion a light to medium coverage with a luminous, dewy quality that lasts the day. They also give your skin a quenched effect and conceal just enough without coating the skin in endless layers. As for the texture, it feels like silk on the skin and locks in moisture with nourishing oils, squalane and skin-loving glycerin.

For A Matte Finish…
Second Skin Matte Foundation, £25 | Sculpted by Aimee
This is one of those brands that doesn’t get enough hype. One of our favourite products from the range is this new Matte Foundation which gets rid of unwanted redness, hides age and sun spots and smooths out bumps, all without any cakey dry-down which is often associated with matte formulas. It has a creamy consistency that’s easy to work with and the shades are a perfect match, working with all undertones. It’s also fragrance and oil-free, so it never causes any irritation. Extra points for the added SPF50.

For Full-Coverage…
24H Wear Breathable Foundation Matte Finish, £47 | GUCCI
With a whopping 40 shades, Gucci’s new Luminous Matte Finish Foundation caters to all with a formula that doesn’t budge. Once you apply it, you’ll find it sets fast – so work quickly – delivering smooth, seamless coverage that has a satin quality we love. It’s great for those seeking a bit more coverage, but in a formula that’s not cakey or too matte. We recommend applying this one with a brush so you get an even blend. It’s an investment at £47, but worth it if you’re serious about flawless results.
