How To Style 5 Transitional Wardrobe Heroes

The Suit
For this look, I’ve opted for a chic pale blue linen suit from Sessùn – the lightweight fabric is such a great choice for spring. I’ve styled it with a white woven bag and classic trainers for a relaxed yet put-together feel, and added a navy jumper draped over my shoulders for an extra touch of layering. This outfit is ideal for events like the Chelsea Flower Show where you want to look smart but comfortable throughout the day.
The Shirt
A striped shirt is a spring/summer essential and this one from With Nothing Underneath stands out with its luxe fabric, stylish bib detail and bold – yet elegant – stripes. It’s the kind of piece that effortlessly transitions between smart and casual. I’ve tucked it into wide-leg white jeans and added a tote bag and boat shoes, creating an easy, timeless outfit that works just as well by the coast as it does on the streets of London.

The Co-Ord
This caramel-coloured knitted skirt set from Karen Millen caught my eye for both its rich colour and its pretty puff sleeves. I’m such a fan of co-ords – they offer an easy option with little planning for a complete outfit, or they can be styled separately with other staples in your wardrobe such as jeans or tailored trousers. I’ve simply added a pair of kitten heel boots, some statement gold jewellery and a brown suede bowling bag to keep the look casual.

The Trench Coat
A classic trench coat is the ultimate transitional staple and this brown Zara style, with its chic tartan lining, gives a fresh spin to a timeless piece. Here, I’ve styled it with high-waisted blue jeans, a navy jumper and burgundy loafers – a classic combination. I also feel it’s nice to have a pop of white under a knit, but a good white tee would work equally well. As it gets warmer, the jumper will look great over the coat tied around the shoulders.

The Dress
There’s something special about slipping into a beautifully made dress – it gives an instant confidence boost. Every time I wear a dress, I tell myself I should do so more often, and this look is no exception. Here, I’ve styled the Dalton silk maxi dress from Hayley Menzies with kitten heel boots, a cosy jumper to keep it more relaxed and some classic sunnies. With its bold print and fluid silhouette, it’s the kind of piece that makes an impact without trying too hard.
