Few things are guaranteed to get you in the festive spirit quite like a Christmas fair. From family-friendly days out to virtual events stretching into the New Year, here are some of the best fairs and dedicated shopping days taking place across the country ahead of 25th December.

Country Living Christmas Fair

At the Country Living Christmas Fairs (tickets for the Harrogate and Glasgow events are still available) you’ll find unique gifts for friends and family, home styling advice, beautiful handmade decorations and tempting food and drink made by small artisan producers – all under one roof. There’ll also be food demonstrations from a line-up of celebrity chefs, workshop sessions hosted by expert crafters and at-home entertaining talks given by members of the editorial team. To round off the day, sip on a glass or two in the popular Champagne Bar or enjoy an afternoon tea dining experience. Ticket prices range from £9-£200, with under-fives going free.

The Absolute Best Christmas Fair

Londoners will likely know about the Absolute Best Christmas Fair at Chelsea Town Hall already, but anyone who finds themselves in and around the capital in early December should make a point of dropping by this long-established Christmas fair. With plenty to choose from, organisers will also be donating a portion of the proceeds to a local school – Christ Church C of E Primary School in Chelsea – as per usual. Admission is free.

Wild by Tart Christmas Fair

Regular readers will know how much we love Wild by Tart and this year, the Belgravia-based restaurant and delicatessen is hosting a full weekend of Christmas shopping. Spanning Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th November, attendees can enjoy live music, shopping, food and drinks to kick off the festive season. This year, the event is also supporting We Are Grow, which is why everyone will be asked donate £2 on arrival. Sponsors Portobello Road Gin will be serving up delicious drinks, and there are also two winter wreath making workshops scheduled on the 27th in two time slots: 12pm-2:30pm and 3pm-5:30pm. On Sunday 28th, there'll be a Gingerbread Making station for grandchildren to enjoy, too.

The Early Early Christmas Virtual Fair 

More than 130 vendors are taking part in this event – which is also being held virtually for those who want to access unique Christmas gifts from the comfort of their own home. Raising money for ABF The Soldiers' Charity, everything is broken down into categories so you can focus on the gifts you need to buy for people on your list. With a host of unique brands and exclusive discounts, this is one to dip in and out of throughout the festive season.

Chatsworth House Christmas Fair

Few festive fair venues are more impressive than Derbyshire’s Chatsworth house. With over 100 stalls offering a wide range of gifts and decorations, set time aside to explore the house’s own exclusive ranges in the Stables shop, too, which sells a wide range of home and fashion gifts and plenty of stocking fillers. Then, take a break to enjoy mulled wine or craft beer at one of the outdoor bars or sample some of the delicious food. There'll also be live music guaranteed to get you in the festive spirit. Admission is free.

Hampton Court Festive Fayre

To ensure proper social distancing, Hampton Court Palace will transform its courtyards into a food-lover's Christmas wonderland for this year’s Festive Fayre. Soak up the spirit of the season with delicious street food, warming festive drinks and even the odd sing-along. Visitors will be able to browse a selection of unique stalls, offering plenty of foodie Christmas treats and special presents for everyone on your list. Admission is included as part of a standard entrance ticket to Hampton Court, which costs £25.30 per adult. Historic Royal Palaces members go free.

The Burghley Christmas Fair

Wander among the decorative chalets, marquees and pagodas at the Burghley Christmas Fair – which, this year, is helping to support the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice. From luxury gifts to artisan foods, festive treats to winter fashion and much more, bear in mind that organisers are asking potential visitors to book an arrival time slot during peak hours (specifically 9am-3pm), although shoppers are welcome to stay as long as they like. Entry is £5 for adults (under-18s go free) and parking is complimentary for all ticket holders.

Surrey Hills Christmas Fair

The Surrey Hills Christmas Fair showcases the very best of Surrey arts, crafts and artisanal produce. Taking place across the Manor House and Place Farm Barn, there’ll be a variety of stalls to browse, including food and drink, skincare, jewellery and fashion – plus, visitors can also sample refreshments and light bites in the courtyard. Just be aware that tickets – priced at £8 per adult – are limited and require advance booking. Plus, ticket holders will also need to arrive during an allotted timeslot between 12pm and 12.30pm to ensure organisers can keep an eye on visitor numbers. Under-fives go free.

Powis Castle Christmas Shopping Event

Don’t miss this opportunity to do a little Christmas shopping in the grounds of one of Wales’ most beautiful castles. From decorations to Christmas cards, gifts to festive food, you’re bound to find something for any friend or loved one. Flatford Christmas Craft Fayre

Anyone who’s been to Suffolk or the surrounding area will be familiar with the picturesque setting of nearby Flatford Mill – the inspiration for many of John Constable’s most famous landscape paintings. This year, it’s playing host to The Bourne Valley Crafters as part of the annual Christmas Craft Fayre. There, you’ll be able to browse wares from a talented group of local crafters and designers, from ceramics to jewellery, art to textiles. Plus, if you happen to have the grandchildren in tow, you can enjoy refreshments at the on-site tearoom. Admission is £5 per car.
