In The Know: Cool Things For Parents & Kids

This month we’ve rounded up some of the best finds for mums and dads, guaranteed to keep the kids busy and parents happy – from Basil & Ford’s new kid’s clothing line through to a new BBC podcast for new and not-so-new parents…

Basil and Ford

Basil & Ford is made up of married couple Matt and Lucy. The duo set up Basil & Ford in 2013, when they found out they were expecting their first child. Since then, they’ve put their design backgrounds to the test, creating a range of tongue-in-cheek screen-printed stationery, enamel pins and prints. New for spring is a kid’s apparel line, featuring slogan tees with statements such as ‘Feral’, ‘Toerag’ and ‘Toast Appreciation Society’. Start ‘em young.

Belle Enfant

Belle Enfant is an award-winning luxury fashion brand for children aged 0-4 years. Producing bi-annual collections, the brand offers an effortlessly chic, vintage-inspired collection of clothing and accessories, with a focus on pretty detailing and clean finishes in washed neutrals, blush and sherbet tones. We’re completely taken with its SS19 drop, which features this Liberty print ruffle collar blouse – we’d wear it ourselves.

Boom Cycle x The Kids Table

Boom Cycle has introduced a kid’s club service to the timetable at its Hammersmith and Battersea studios. The Kids Table will feature supervised arts and crafts, face-painting and creative games aplenty, all while parents get some much-needed time to themselves – safe in the knowledge their kids are in the hands of DBS-checked professionals. Each week, sessions will be themed so that no two weeks are the same. The service will be available for children aged three-ten at various times across the Boom Cycle schedule.

HM X Nathalie Lete

H&M has teamed up with artist Nathalie Lété for a fantasy land-inspired print collaboration. Lété is a Paris-based, world-renowned artist who works across illustrations, textiles, ceramics and paintings. The capsule collection features several of her colourful and poetic artworks as prints on a wide range of children’s clothing and accessories. The collection is available to buy in selected stores worldwide, as well as online.

Nourish Mama

As a trained nutritionist, Jemma – the mum behind Nourish Mama – knows the importance of a good diet for recovery, breastfeeding, sustaining energy levels and supporting mental health once you’ve had a child. Nourish Mama offers all this by way of 17 different meals, delivered right to your door. Dishes are designed to be wholesome and satisfying, and Jemma always chats with clients ahead of cooking to find out any dietary likes/dislikes and intolerances. Options include lentil and mushroom ragu served with whole wheat spaghetti and rocket salad; and baby kale, sweet potato and lentil curry served with yoghurt, lime, fresh coriander and chilli.

Parentland Podcast

Parentland is a brand-new parenting podcast from the BBC. You ask the questions; and the show programmers will ask the experts. Topics discussed on the first few shows include how to get children to listen, how to break the bedwetting taboo, how can your child’s brainpower be boosted and how to raise a child as multilingual. Essential.

Sleep Under

Sleep Under is a complete slumber party in a box. Mailed in the post, the contents of a Sleep Under box includes: tents, tent sleeves, blow-up beds, bedding, pillow cases, throws and electric pump for bed, bunting, fairy lights, decorative scatter cushions, breakfast trays, lanterns and LED tea lights, sleep masks, a non-perishable snack hamper, LED camp fire, popcorn and cinema popcorn boxes. For a fuss-free sleepover, the team will send you out all the kit you need for four children and instructions for set-up. You’ll then have two days to pack it away and a courier will come and collect the lot.

The best thing about Toddlekind playmats? They don´t look like playmats at all. Rather they look like high-end rugs, merging seamlessly into the design of your home, while still protecting your toddler from their daily tumbles. Inspired by the geometric lines of Scandinavian interiors, Toddlemat playmats gives a patchwork tile effect. They have all the functionality of a traditional foam puzzle mat, only plusher and with a variety of designs to match your home.
