The Witches at National Theatre

One of Roald Dahl’s most entertaining – and spooky – stories has been adapted for the stage at the National. This is a musical about Luke, his Gran and their run-in with a group of real-life witches. And everything you might know about them is wrong. Forget the pointy hats and broomsticks: they’re the most dangerous creatures on earth. And now they’ve come up with their most evil plan yet. But he’s ten and she’s got a dodgy heart. Time is short, danger is everywhere, and Luke and his gran have got just one chance to stop the witches from ‘squalloping’ every child in England. Tickets start from £5.

Upper Ground, South Bank, SE1 9PX; until 27th January
