In The Know: Cool Things For Parents & Kids

Every month we bring you the coolest things to know about, guaranteed to keep the kids busy and the parents happy. From helpful apps and books to a West End musical, here’s what is worth having on your radar.

Habitat Kids Collection

Habitat has long been a go-to destination for affordable homeware and furniture, so we were excited to hear they’ve launched their first children’s collection. Available online and in store this month, there are three ranges to choose from, so you and your little ones can decide on a playful theme for their bedroom. Little adventurers will love the ‘Into the Wild’ edit (full of animals and bright pieces of furniture), while ‘Homespun’ and ‘Pop’ will add a touch of colour to the space. The line-up also includes bedframes, tables, chairs, and a selection of home accessories, like sweet lampshades and useful hanging baskets.

Headspace Back To School Collection

The Headspace app is a great resource, one which was created to boost mental health and wellbeing with mindfulness exercises, sleep sounds and meditations. Proven to reduce anxiety, stress and burnout, while also increasing focus and positivity, the team has now released a ‘Back to School’ series for children, parents and teachers. Kids can check in every day on the app to get ready for school with easy morning mindfulness exercises, while adults will benefit from the ‘Letting Go of Stress’ and ‘Moments Away from Kids’ audios. There are meditations for teachers, too, including in-between-class sessions to help boost concentration. Headspace costs £9.99 per month.

School Of Rock The Musical

Based on the family favourite with new music from Andrew Lloyd Webber, School of Rock the Musical is going on tour this autumn. Slacker and unconventional teacher Dewey Finn (Jake Sharp) turns a class of straight-A students into a riff-scorching rock band. As they prepare for the Battle of the Bands, can Dewey make them embrace the empowering message of rock and win the competition? With shows all over the UK – including Woking, Southend, Bradford, Northampton and Leeds – the nationwide tour will last a full year. Tickets start from £15pp.
