Bert's Kitchen Garden, Wales

This eco campsite on Llŷn peninsula in north Wales was created for families. Groups can pitch up on wildflower meadows or underneath orchards next to streams on the private estate –bring your own tent or campervan or stay in one of two glamping safari tents. The site has shower blocks with eco-friendly toiletries, composting toilets, BBQs for hire and a small kitchen with washing-up facilities and fridges. Little ones will love the treehouses and rope swings around the camp, while adults will appreciate the kitchen garden restaurant which serves seasonal food made from produce grown on site. This summer, Bert’s will open two huts – designed to look like retro railway carriages – in a private paddock next to the kitchen, The huts will sleep two with king-sized beds, a marble-tiled shower room with hot water, and a shared firepit for alfresco cooking. The site is wifi and car free so expect to be off grid and transfer your equipment to camp by wheelbarrow.

Cloud Nine, Dorset

Cloud Nine was made for kids. The luxury glamping company is running one site this summer – in Dorset from Friday 22nd July to Friday 19th August. Little ones can take part in countless fun activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, circus workshops, archery, laser tag, climbing, and arts and crafts lessons, while adults relax with yoga and massages. Guests can choose from stylish one or two-bed cotton-canvas bell tents, tipis and luxury safari tents with separate living areas and sofas. A great choice if you’re glamping for the first time, Cloud Nine has babysitters and a creche so parents can unwind and relax in a hot tub with a glass of fizz. In terms of food, expect pop-up street food trucks and bars, plus an outdoor restaurant.

Cornish Tipi Holidays, Cornwall

This beautiful campsite is a five-minute drive from Port Isaac. It’s home to 20 cotton-canvas tipis, which come with all the essentials, and are available in medium (sleeps two adults) and large (sleeps up to six). Some are on private pitches, hidden by trees and wildflowers, while others can be found in the communal field – great if you’re visiting as a large group. Guests of all ages are encouraged to switch off and relax here, with mornings spent swimming or exploring the local area. In high season, the team at the on-site GastroPod Café host dinner, including pizza, Thai and Mexican nights.

Top Of The Woods, Pembrokeshire

Top of the Woods is an eco-friendly site in Pembrokeshire. Here, it’s all about reconnecting with nature and appreciating a slower way of life. Families can choose from boutique safari lodges set in their own wildflower meadow where you can soak up the stunning views of Pembrokeshire National Park and its surrounding woodlands, nature domes (which kids will love) and Pioneer Camps, complete with a wagon-style kitchen-dining area. Adults can relax in one of the hammocks, while kids play in the Hide & Seek Garden and explore the nearby woodland area. Order bacon baps or shakshuka from the breakfast bar and a pizza from the on-site pop-up for supper. Every Tuesday, the camp also runs a fishmonger stall where families can barbecue their own seafood.

Luxury Yurt Holidays, Lake District

Head to any of the four Luxury Yurt Holidays sites if you’re after a family friendly glamping holiday in the Lake District. Unpack your supplies in one of the cosy yurts, which sleep up to six, before heading to the lake for a dip. After drying off, pick up treats at the well-stocked shop or enjoy some classic pub dishes and local ales at the on-site tavern. For little explorers, each site offers plenty of outdoor adventures, from hiking to canoeing. Home Farm Glamping, Hertfordshire

For a fun girls’ trip, book a weekend with Home Farm Glamping on its beautiful estate in Hertfordshire. Only 13 miles from central London, it’s the ideal spot for a bit of short-term R&R close to the capital. Camp Wildfire, Kent

This summer, Camp Wildfire will pitch up on an estate in Sevenoaks, Kent, just 40 minutes from London by train. This party destination offers adults an all-American summer camp experience with over 100 activities to choose from, including quad biking, jewellery making, horse riding, calligraphy, yoga, cocktail making and drama and dance workshops – there’s even a radio station tent for budding broadcasters. Try food and drink from the various street food stalls and bars, then head to the main stage where musicians perform every night. You can pitch up your own tent or stay in boutique bell tents, emperor tents or airstream trailers which come with luxury facilities like pamper rooms and separate lounges. There’s also an on-site spa with wood fired hot tubs.

Campwell, Bath

Campwell is in Cherry Wood, near Bath. There are two types of accommodation on offer: Campwell Woods is an eco-village where guests stay in log cabins, yurts, cob roundhouses and shepherd’s huts with access to compost toilets, warm showers and kitchens; Campwell Farm comprises nine bell tents with wood-burning stoves. All come with comfortable beds, hot showers and a wood-fired sauna, as well as a communal BBQ area. If you’re travelling as a large group, book the Chief’s Den, which is three adjoining yurts on a wooden sundeck. Sleeping up to four people across two bedrooms, it also has a large living space, private bathroom and a kitchen. In terms of activities, glampers can sign up for archery classes, woodwork courses, foraging-to-fork sessions, outdoor yoga classes, wild swimming and paddleboarding.

Marston Park, Somerset

Marston Park was made for friends who want to take part in creative workshops, enjoy long dinners by the lake and disconnect from the digital world. This month, the site reopens its doors with a collection of art by Bruce Munro. The ‘Light at Marston Park’ exhibition features a cool installation of lights around the grounds in Somerset. Guests can stay in luxury bell tents – complete with double bed, wood-burning stove and artist’s materials – surrounded by their own glowing garden of light, which makes the ideal spot to see the illuminations at night. Over the next few months, guests can also take part in workshops and events, including yoga and sound bath sessions, and enjoy live music from the festival stage.

Swinton Estate, Yorkshire Dales

Swinton Estate can be found hiding among the vast greenery of the Yorkshire Dales. Choose from a meadow yurt or tree lodge for your stay, all of which sit within the 20,000-acre estate. Tree lodges sleep up to five guests and come with a well-stocked kitchen, en-suite bathroom and a fire pit, while yurts have their own hot tubs where guests can unwind with a glass of champagne. Spend a lazy morning enjoying a cup of coffee on your veranda, before taking part in one of the many outdoor activities the site has to offer. From horse riding and mountain biking to exploring the vast woodland area and relaxing at the hotel’s on-site spa, there’s something for everyone. Dogs are also welcome.
