THE CITY BREAK HOTEL:

Bella Grande, Copenhagen

Copenhagen has welcomed a string of hotel and restaurant openings over the summer. The property we’re most excited about is Bella Grande. Set opposite the City Hall Square, it takes inspiration from classic Scandi design and Sicilian palazzos, with an Instagrammable courtyard and exterior. Rooms are spacious, light and bright, with plush furniture and on-trend decorative accents, while courtyard restaurant Donna (part of the restaurant group Copenhagen Food Collective, which owns 18 other eateries around the city) has pretty checkerboard tiling, pink seating and a sky-high atrium roof. For a special stay, book the junior suite to take advantage of complimentary breakfast in bed and drinks from the in-room bar.

THE WINTER SUN DESTINATION:

Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay, Morocco

Last month, Royal Mansour Marrakech came in at number 38 on the prestigious ‘World’s 50 Best Hotels’ list. Riding high on that success, the group is now set to open Tamuda Bay in December on Morocco’s lesser-known Mediterranean coast. Close to Tangier, the area is known for its Unesco World Heritage Site medina that reflects the Moorish and Andalusian influences unique to this part of the country. The hotel will have 55 suites and villas offering views of the sea, the lush gardens or the nearby Rif mountains. Every villa comes with its own butler, while the Privilege Seafront Villas also have private pools, separated from the beach by a small dune for privacy. There will also be a wellness centre and spa, four restaurants, a kids’ club and endless activities to keep guests entertained.

THE FOODIE POP-UP:

Lorto at Nordelaia Hotel, Italy

Set within the chic, 12-room boutique hotel Nordelaia, Lorto is an experimental dining destination in the famous wine country of Piedmont. The restaurant is housed in an 800-year-old converted farmhouse. Veering away from the region’s traditional meat-heavy cuisine, Lorto embraces a plant-forward approach, focusing on locally sourced vegetables and fish from nearby Liguria. Resident chef Charles Pearce heads up the kitchen and will welcome numerous chefs for kitchen takeovers in the coming months. On Friday 18th and Saturday 19th October, Will Devlin from The Small Holding in Kent will take to the kitchen, followed by Roberta Hall McCarron from Edinburgh’s Little Chartroom on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd November.

THE TURKISH HOTSPOT:

No81

On the north side of Turkey’s Bodrum Peninsula is Türkbükü, an area that was once a cluster of fishing villages. In the 70s, Türkbükü earned a reputation as a discreet retreat for artists and writers, but has been quietly overshadowed by the rise of St Tropez and Mykonos. Recently, though, the area has drawn a new wave of luxury hotels, including Maxx Royal and Mandarin Oriental. No81, a boutique family run hotel with just 49 rooms, perfectly situated on the water, has enjoyed a renaissance of late. Designed to blend into its natural surroundings, No81 features modern buildings and rooms with uninterrupted sea views. Breakfast is served by the pond, while Daze offers relaxed fine dining that highlights the unique flavours of the Aegean coast. The beach club has nearly 200 seafront sunbeds on overwater decking, while the al fresco 360° bar and lounge transforms from a chill-out space into a vibrant evening hotspot.

THE LUGGAGE COLLECTION:

Bondi Soft by Nere

Aussie luggage brand Nere lives up to the hype with its playful and functional collection of suitcases and travel accessories. The Bondi collection, inspired by the colours and vibes of the Sydney suburb it’s named after, features soft luggage pieces, including multi-pocket totes, duffle bags and bum bags. We rate the large tote which has several internal and external pockets – perfect for taking you from office to gym – as well as a handy suitcase sleeve, so you can slide it on top of a carry-on or larger case.

THE COLD HOLIDAY DESTINATION:

Finnish Lapland

If you’re after a different kind of cold holiday as the winter months approach, Finnish Lapland should be at the top of your list. With its beautiful views, snow-capped terrain, and opportunities to spot the Northern Lights, travellers can enjoy everything from skiing to snowshoeing and husky rides. Oliver’s Travels, which has numerous luxury villas and holidays homes around the world, recently opened two design-led properties in the region. Villa Esa is set on the shores of Lake Vuosselijärvi. The modern home sleeps up to seven guests and has spacious living areas, a sauna, a lakeside terrace, and flexible accommodation. Then there’s Villa Arctic Dream in the Utsuvaara area. This luxury four-bedroom home accommodates eight guests. With a cosy living room, home theatre, sauna, hot tub, and stunning views from its spacious terrace, it’s a great option for families or groups.

THE ART CENTRE:

Gallifet, France

In Aix-en-Provence, Gallifet is a hybrid space combining contemporary art, a shaded garden restaurant and a gallery-store. Housed in a beautifully restored 18th-century Provençal mansion, the centre lays on bi-annual exhibitions – there’s a display on materialism running from 15th November to 1st February. The restaurant is set to reopen its doors next year during the summer months, when a chef will take over the kitchen for a residency. This year, Josh Dallaway (ex-Bar Bruno, Sager + Wilde) took over the space for four months, so we’re expecting big things.
