The Luxe List: December

From the Instagram accounts, coffee table books and interiors collections the aesthetes on the SL team are loving, to our fashion department’s pop-up shop finds and lifestyle desk’s favourite new restaurant, our monthly Luxe List is a round-up of the coolest things to do, see and buy right now…

POP-UP: LoveShackFancy at Harrods

These days, it’s not just about the clothes a brand designs, but the lifestyle they sell too. LoveShackFancy is the epitome of the 360-degree experience, with not only the most impossibly feminine, romantic fashion on offer, but a series of US stores and a social media presence to back it up. A favourite of the style set thanks to whimsical designs and Victoriana-inspired dresses, the brand’s been hard to locate in the UK in recent years apart from a smattering of product on the likes of Net-a-Porter and Harvey Nichols. But, as of last week, you can shop at an exclusive Harrods pop-up, giving you access to not just the usual ruffled separates, but statement knitwear, killer swimwear and pretty accessories too.

INTERIORS COLLABORATION: Matilda Goad X Liberty

The scallop-loving designer has teamed up with the iconic London department store to create a collection of raffia lampshades with playful Liberty print linings and colour pop Roman pillar lamp bases, each design playing on Goad's penchant for textural materials and unusual styles. They're the pieces guaranteed to perk up your space, no matter how big or small.

MUSE: Birgit Kos for Porter Magazine

We all know the 80s are back in fashion favour, but for those who can only recall nightmarish bouffants and OTT shoulder-pads, here's a little inspo for you. Net-a-Porter's Disco For Days shoot, featuring top model Birgit Kos, is proof that sequins, white knee-high boots, boxy leather and even a little dose of exaggerated shoulders can really work if styled correctly. Just add a smoky eye, messy hair and minimal accessories for a surprisingly wearable take.

FASHION LAYER: Victoria Beckham Cape Coat

We've already extolled the virtues of the cape for you this winter, but if you're still sceptical, this Victoria Beckham design is likely all the convincing you need. Unlike traditional styles, this clever piece still has the structure of a proper coat, but with an extra cape-like layer to bring a little drama to proceedings. Plus, black piping makes it impossibly versatile – wear over colour or smart monochromes for a grown-up, stylish look.

FESTIVE CANDLE: Cire Trudon

Cire Trudon's Abd El Kader candle is what we want our homes to smell like this Christmas. Encapsulating the scent of a warm breeze, blowing from Algeria's Mascara Coast to the mainland, the scent blends sweet jasmine and vanilla with fresh spearmint and apple, balanced by spicy notes of clove and ginger. FRAGRANCE: Santa Eulalia

Recently discovered by Georgie and Lu at The Shop at Bluebird, this Barcelona-based fragrance brans has a wide range of scents to suit every nose. Here at SL, we're particular fans of the Nubes scent: a fresh fragrance inspired by a trip through the Mediterranean coast, with notes of bergamot, orange and jasmine that remind us of summer sunsets and the sea's breeze.
