The Luxe List: December

From the Instagram accounts, coffee table books and interiors collections the aesthetes on the SL team are loving, to our fashion department’s pop-up shop finds and lifestyle desk’s favourite new restaurant, our monthly Luxe List is a round-up of the coolest things to do, see and buy right now…

POP-UP: LoveShackFancy at Harrods

These days, it’s not just about the clothes a brand designs, but the lifestyle they sell too. LoveShackFancy is the epitome of the 360-degree experience, with not only the most impossibly feminine, romantic fashion on offer, but a series of US stores and a social media presence to back it up. A favourite of the style set thanks to whimsical designs and Victoriana-inspired dresses, the brand’s been hard to locate in the UK in recent years apart from a smattering of product on the likes of Net-a-Porter and Harvey Nichols. But, as of last week, you can shop at an exclusive Harrods pop-up, giving you access to not just the usual ruffled separates, but statement knitwear, killer swimwear and pretty accessories too.

FILM: Lizzie

Chloë Sevigny's latest passion project, this psychological thriller is based on the infamous 1892 murders of the Borden family. Lizzie follows the notorious would-be axe murderess Lizzie Borden (Sevigny), who was accused and acquitted of killing her father and stepmother, including her intense, secret relationship with Bridget Sullivan (Kristen Stewart): an Irish maid who comes to live with the Borden family.

In cinemas 14th December

The scallop-loving designer has teamed up with the iconic London department store to create a collection of raffia lampshades with playful Liberty print linings and colour pop Roman pillar lamp bases, each design playing on Goad's penchant for textural materials and unusual styles. They're the pieces guaranteed to perk up your space, no matter how big or small.

MUSE: Birgit Kos for Porter Magazine

We all know the 80s are back in fashion favour, but for those who can only recall nightmarish bouffants and OTT shoulder-pads, here's a little inspo for you. Net-a-Porter's Disco For Days shoot, featuring top model Birgit Kos, is proof that sequins, white knee-high boots, boxy leather and even a little dose of exaggerated shoulders can really work if styled correctly. Just add a smoky eye, messy hair and minimal accessories for a surprisingly wearable take.

The latest launch from the Bourne & Hollingsworth Group, located in the heart of the West End, this rooftop restaurant and bar boasts panoramic, 180-degree views of London. And with a menu of delicious seasonal food (think burrata with beetroot, candied lemon, watercress and hazelnuts; slow-cooked lamb with prunes and sweet potato mash; and pulled jackfruit chilli with avocado relish), mouthwatering cocktails (make ours a 'Gold Fashioned': Monkey Shoulder Scotch, Wild Turkey Rye, Amaro di Angostura, homemade truffle muscovado syrup and lavender bitters) and B&H's signature stunning interiors, it's a real must-book.

Curated by Nathan Williams, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Kinfolk magazine, in The Eye, we meet some of the world's most iconic fashion designers, directors and tastemakers spanning the likes of Dries van Noten and Grace Coddington to Melina Matsoukas and Spike Lee, leaning about the books they read, the mentors who guided them, their individual techniques for achieving success, and how they developed their eye for style.

KNC Beauty burst onto the scene with its Instagrammable lip mask, and this under-eye version is already racking up the likes. Playfully shaped like shooting stars, they're infused with anti-ageing retinol and collagen to plump up skin and improve the texture of fine lines, alongside a dose of hydrating hyaluronic acid and soothing aloe vera to help reduce puffiness and diminish dark cirlces in ten minutes. Ideal for pre-event pampering this party season.

CHRISTMAS TREE: The Tree of Love at Claridge's

London's Claridge's is renowned for its festive decorations, appointing one leading designer every year to create a showstopping Christmas tree for its grand foyer. This year, the iconic Diane Von Furstenburg has transitioned from fashion to foliage; titled The Tree of Love, her design is decorated in 8,000 iridescent hand-painted silver-leafed leaves, hand-blown blue glass spheres and 150 glass hearts, along with six different silver-leafed abstract animals. Impossibly Instagram-friendly, head down to get a snap now.

FASHION LAYER: Victoria Beckham Cape Coat

We've already extolled the virtues of the cape for you this winter, but if you're still sceptical, this Victoria Beckham design is likely all the convincing you need. Unlike traditional styles, this clever piece still has the structure of a proper coat, but with an extra cape-like layer to bring a little drama to proceedings. Plus, black piping makes it impossibly versatile – wear over colour or smart monochromes for a grown-up, stylish look.

INSTAGRAM: Somewhere I Would Like To Live

The perfect opportunity for escapism during the depths of British winter, we've been following this Insta account for dreamy interiors and architecture inspo from all corners of the globe. Curated by Barcelona-based interior designer Katty Schiebeck and photographer Ruben Ortiz, the images span luxe holiday destinations and atmospheric travel shots to beautifully-decorated homes and avant-garde design exhibitions.

Cire Trudon's Abd El Kader candle is what we want our homes to smell like this Christmas. Encapsulating the scent of a warm breeze, blowing from Algeria's Mascara Coast to the mainland, the scent blends sweet jasmine and vanilla with fresh spearmint and apple, balanced by spicy notes of clove and ginger. Plus, can we talk about how stunning the rose gold packaging is?

FRAGRANCE: Santa Eulalia

Recently discovered by Georgie and Lu at The Shop at Bluebird, this Barcelona-based fragrance brans has a wide range of scents to suit every nose. Here at SL, we're particular fans of the Nubes scent: a fresh fragrance inspired by a trip through the Mediterranean coast, with notes of bergamot, orange and jasmine that remind us of summer sunsets and the sea's breeze.
