Spill

Writer and beauty guru Billie Bhatia and beauty advocate and content creator Sasha Pallari are childhood best friends. Their new podcast Spill is all about ‘the messy years’ – the time in your 20s and 30s when you’re supposed to have it all figured out, but often don’t. The two have been through some big life changes over the last few years, from Billie going freelance to Sasha going through a divorce. Each week, the duo tackle various topics, including family dynamics, green and red dating flags and – most importantly – their go-to McDonald’s order. Full of warm, fun energy, it’s my favourite new series.

Famously

Jack Remmington and Coco Sarel are two of my most-watched content creators on TikTok, so I was pleased they’ve teamed up with Stacey Dooley and Larry Dean to host this new series about celebrity culture. Episodes are twice weekly (fantastic if, like me, you race through series) with each one focusing on a specific celebrity scandal or controversy, like Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s leaked sex tape. The four explore how celebrity culture has changed over the years, and how social media has catapulted the most unlikely stars into the limelight.

The Trial of Lord Lucan

In November 1974, British aristocrat Richard John Bingham, otherwise known as Lord Lucan, became the prime suspect in the murder of his children's nanny, Sandra Rivett. He vanished soon after the incident, sparking one of the most sensational manhunts in British history, but he has never been found and so has never faced a judge or jury. This eight-part true-crime series examines never-before-seen documents and testimonies, shedding new light on this fascinating case.

Miss Me?

Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver talk openly and honestly in this new BBC Sounds series. The best friends host a twice-weekly catchup to discuss the highs and lows of their lives, as well as the biggest cultural moments of the week. From TV and pop culture memes to their own stalking experiences, no topic is off limit – and each episode feels like you’re having a chat with your own mates. Don’t miss the ‘Dead Sheep Strategy’ episode in which they discuss Charli XCX, meeting Billie Eilish, and the spiralling cost of childcare.

Exhibit A

I love Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch’s The Therapy Crouch, so I was excited to listen to Abbey’s new solo project. In Exhibit A, she interviews her celeb pals and other inspiring people who share their successes and struggles in life. I enjoyed the episode with Elizabeth Hurley, who spoke about her close relationship with her son Damian, the iconic Versace dress she wore to the 1994 premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral, and being a breast cancer awareness ambassador. Other guests in the series include Michelle Kennedy and Roxie Nafousi.

Killing Justice

The best true-crime podcasts tend to reveal a story you wouldn’t have otherwise known about. A good example is Killing Justice, which is about a judge in India who died of a heart attack. His death barely made the news at the time, but when his niece approaches a journalist two years later, she reveals that the circumstances around Judge Brijgopal Loya’s death have made his family doubt the official story. With twists and turns and at every corner, I was hooked.

Rylan: How To Be In The Spotlight

After shooting to unexpected fame on The X Factor, Rylan has pivoted from pop star to presenter. But his rise into the spotlight came at a price – Rylan has spoken publicly about the dark side of fame and the cost of having his personal life under public scrutiny. How to Be in the Spotlight explores the good, the bad and the ugly side of fame. He’s also roped in some of his celeb friends – like Emily Atak, Daisy May Cooper and Leigh Francis (Keith Lemon) – to share their experiences too.

Cocaine Inc.

This podcast documents a worldwide investigation by The Times, Sunday Times and NewsCorp Australia, which have worked together on a comprehensive look at the billion-dollar global cocaine industry. If you’ve watched both Narcos series, you’ll enjoy this because it tells the next part of the story, post-Pablo Escobar and the notorious drug lords of the 80s and 90s. The story begins in 2022 in Merseyside, northern England, after 26-year-old Elle Edwards is shot outside her home on Christmas Eve.

The Last City

Wondery’s second series of The Last City has just dropped. The dystopian series is set in the climate-ravaged year of 2072. Pura stands as a miraculous green haven, a ‘geoengineered’ paradise that protects lucky residents from the global catastrophes of fires, floods and droughts. Demetria Lopez is Pura's PR fixer, tirelessly promoting the city's idyllic image. But when she stumbles upon a dark secret that underpins Pura's existence, she must decide who and what she is willing to protect.
