Disciple

Handmade in London, Disciple tackles the stressed-out skin of the modern woman. Developed by psychotherapist Charlotte Ferguson, the range takes a new approach to skin conditions, addressing the psychological causes like anxiety, depression and stress, which all contribute to inflammatory skin disorders like eczema, premature aging and adult-acne. Disciple oils are unique in their delivery, with ingredients carefully chosen to work not only on the skins surface, but as a therapeutic remedy for both the body and mind. Their products include adaptogens: potent, natural extracts which bring balance back to the body by attacking the stress hormone cortisol, which can cause acne; and prebiotic plant fibre, burdock root, to help regulate bacteria and reduce breakouts. Finally, linoleic acid: an omega rich fatty acid that acne sufferers are found to be deficient in. Low levels have been found to result in excess sebum and clogged pores, which is why all their oils are high in linoleic acid. Their Good Skin Face Oil rivals the most premium of products and comes in at an affordable. It brightens, clears and regenerates blemish-prone complexions, even those that refuse to comply to other treatments.

Dr Roebuck's

After the success of their Selfridges pop-up last year, Dr Roebucks are back and sleeker than ever. The brainchild behind the brand, sisters Kim and Zoe Roebucks, were born and bred in Aus and suffered with sensitive skin and eczema which for a long time seemed to be incurable. As doctors, their parents set out on creating a pared back, personalised skincare solution with minimal ingredients. The product worked. Fast forward to today and the girls have a whole range of products as they continue to follow their parent’s philosophy, focusing on results-driven formulas full of naturally inspired active ingredients. The Tama Healing Mask works wonders on congested, ageing skin, where both hydration and antibacterial properties are essential. Sustainably sourced multi-tasker Manuka honey, turmeric and avocado oil tackle blemishes while they nourish and renew. It’s your new skin saviour.

Drunk Elephant

A Sephora bestseller, Drunk Elephant is a much more serious skincare contender than the name would suggest. Hailing from America, the brand boasts a bountiful list of clean, green, natural ingredients and was founded by Tiffany Masterson in 2013. The notable name originated from one of her most loved ingredients, Marula oil. Whilst researching the oil, she came across a video of elephants who behaved as if they were intoxicated after eating the Marula fruit. Since then, the brand has gone from strength to strength and earlier this year it was revealed to be arriving on our shores by renowned beauty blogger Caroline Herons. Their philosophy is simple – they strive to dispel any confusion over ‘question mark’ ingredients, only including those that either directly benefit skin’s health or improve the efficacy of the formula. You won’t find any of their self-labelled ‘Suspicious 6’ in Drunk Elephant products – essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical screens, fragrance/dyes and SLS – making them safe for all skin types. And if you buy just one thing, let it be the C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream. It’s garnered a long list of 5* reviews and has been hailed as an game changer thanks to its potent blend of antioxidants, peptides and vitamin C. It’s one to invest in.

Gisou

Following in the footsteps of many bloggers, Neign Mirsalehi launched Gisou, a line of haircare products based on the bountiful produce of bees. Growing up in a family of beekeepers, Mirsalehi quickly became aware of the abundance of natural ingredients coming from her father’s beehive. Paired with her mother’s interest in creating her own hair care formulas – she felt that there was nothing effective on the market – Gisou was born. The hero ingredient in their first ever hair oil was honey and since then she has created a whole range of strand-savers, including masks, styling sprays and a delightfully Instagrammable comb (however, the Honey Infused Hair Oil remains a firm SL favourite). The does-it-all oil can be used as a pre-wash treatment, mixed into a mask or as a regular, every day hydrator. Considering Mirsalehi has some of the best hair in the biz, we’re very into it.

Rae Morris

Considered one of the most influential make-up artists in the world, Rae Morris holds best-selling author, four-time winner of Australian Makeup Artist of the Year and L’Oreal’s longest-serving makeup director under her belt. She’s crafted many famous faces and has since turned her hand to creating makeup brushes that are as effective as they are luxurious. Just launched on Cult Beauty, her ‘Jishaku’ (Japanese for ‘magnet’) line is based on her belief of ‘better brush, less product’ and have been hand-crafted in Japan by the self-proclaimed best brush makers in the world. Designed with ease in mind, they provide any makeup novice with the skills to master application. They all feature Rae’s world-first magnetic functionality, which allows the brushes to securely stand up on any surface a magnet will hold. There is also a specially designed magnet stand, which allows you to store your brushes in the most hygienic way possible, not touching any surface. Each brush has been personally hand-tested to ensure the utmost quality across the board. Rae recommends the Radiance Brush, stating it “changed her life”. It’s suitable for applying liquid, powder or cream and blends seamlessly for an airbrushed finish. If you’re wincing at the price, try the Mini Radiance – it’s still a splurge, but a smaller one nonetheless.

Summer Fridays

If you’ve spent any time on Instagram recently you’ve probably already come across the Insta-famous beauty brand, Summer Fridays. Created by influencers Marianna Hewitt and Lauren Gores Ireland, who have over one million followers combined, their coveted Jet Lag Mask (which is in fact their only product) has already amassed a cult following after selling out several times in Sephora, despite the brand only launching in the US in March of this year. The brand’s spike in popularity might have something to do with a hefty endorsement from Kim Kardashian West, who posted about her adoration for the mask. The formula was two years in the making and, although expensive, it can be used in a multitude of ways: as a mask, a primer, an overnight mask or to hydrate parched under eyes. Packed full of fortifying vitamins, ceramides, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients, it delivers a dewy glow on tap.
