The New Natural Beauty Products to Try This Month
Barrier Warrior, £62 | Forest Rhapsody
New to the UK, this brand is known for making efficacious skincare that fuses bio-active ingredients with slow and sensorial southeast Asian beauty rituals. The result is a six-strong product line up, including this standout barrier repair serum. In line with its ‘green chemistry’ ethos, it’s formulated with plant-based peptides which help strengthen and support the skin barrier (which can easily become weakened or compromised thanks to any combination of UV rays, stress and lifestyle habits) as well as naturally derived brightening antioxidants. A small but mighty addition to your daily skincare routine.

Green Natural Nail Colour in Mimosa, £14 | Manucurist
Good, natural nail polish formulas are usually a bit of an anathema, but the range from Paris-based brand Manucurist challenges that assumption. The polishes, which are up to 84% naturally sourced, vegan and cruelty free, have been formulated without chemicals such as formaldehyde and hydroquinone – but don’t compromise on ease of application or shine. I’ve fallen in love with the milky yellow shade ‘Mimosa’ for spring/summer.

Reusable Undereye Masks, £14.99 | Pacifica
While sheet masks are great for plumping skin, they’re not so good for the environment, with an estimated 1 million thrown away every day. To try and lessen the impact, accessible wellness brand Pacifica has launched a range of reusable masks, including these undereye ones which I’ve already used countless times. The vacuum seal they create over the eye serum of your choice helps the product penetrate deeper and work more effectively. As well as being super easy to keep clean for your next use, they come in a handy tin for storage. The brow, lip line and smile line options look just as good.

Scents Strength Candle, £50 | Synchronicity
Inspired by founder Annick Knutsen’s love of meditation, think of this collection of scented candles as peace and quiet in wax form. Using the healing combination of fragrance and nature, each candle is linked to a specific winged creature (think butterflies and dragonflies) which Annick believes have potent spiritual properties. The soy wax candles are also packaged in 100% biodegradable mycelium-based (mushroom) packaging, which is fully compostable without the need for chemicals or industrial processing. Although all of them offer a moment of serenity when lit, ‘Strength’ is a perfect choice for spring, with its zesty notes of lemon and bergamot tempered by more mellow lavender and chamomile.

Face Tan Aqua Mist, £32 | Three Warriors
An organic Australian tanning brand that aims to take the fake out of fake tan, Three Warriors has some great formulas for anyone who prefers their faux glow to be as natural as possible. Created using 70% organic ingredients sourced from the rich landscapes of Tasmania, this mist has become an indispensable addition to my springtime skincare routine. I add a quick spritz after cleansing, let it settle and then finish my face. Because it’s such a gentle formula, you can build up the layers according to your skin type without fear of overdoing it. I find a couple of times a week is enough to leave me with a complexion that looks rested and glowing.

Day Cream, £38 | Melyon
Founded by Roger Dupé, a Swede with West African heritage, Melyon was created with people of colour in mind and has an ethos that’s as much about inclusivity as it is sustainability and ethical manufacturing. Aside from the Scandi designed, environmentally friendly packaging and emphasis on ecologically sound formulations, Melyon is a really good product range. I tried the Day Cream which is packed with niacinamide and vitamins E and C, meaning it delivers bouncy levels of hydration as well as evening out tone so skin looks juicy and fresh.

Natural Hydrating Sunscreen SPF30, £33 | Grown Alchemist
Like the rest of Grown Alchemist’s formulations, this lightweight sunscreen blends natural ingredients with mega scientific know-how. The result is a practically invisible formula that protects skin against UV damage and is 100% vegan and reef safe, while also providing a lovely base for make-up. Natural filter zinc oxide offers sun protection, and this one also contains omega-rich rosehip oil for improved elasticity, parsley seed oil for extra antioxidant protection and a tri-hyaluronan complex to keep skin hydrated, even when exposed to the elements.

Calm & Nourish Balm, £35 | Honest Beauty
If you’ve not tried anything from Jessica Alba’s range of mindfully made, sustainable beauty products, then consider this for your first foray. It has all Honest’s standard credentials (nothing from their list of 2,500 ‘no no’ questionable chemicals) but beyond that, it’s a beautifully textured suits-all moisturiser that transforms from a rich cream to a soothing balm on contact with skin. A blend of plant extracts offers skin barrier support while allantoin, mondo grass and hyaluronic acid come together to provide serious hydration and a dewy, healthy-looking finish. A great everyday no-nonsense moisturiser.
