The Beauty Treatments, Products & Experts Nana Swears By
Nails are very much my thing, so let’s start there. My go-to salon is ‘Nailed by T’ in Shoreditch. They’ve put up with me coming in for years with elaborate moodboards. I can’t recommend it enough if you really want someone with a great eye.
There are two scents I wear on rotation. I rarely deviate from either as I am quite wedded to both: Creed’s Queen of Silk and Tom Ford’s Soleil Blanc. Both are florals but soft and musk-y – they layer nicely too.
My ride-or-die make-up products include the NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation. The matte formula stays put for hours without creasing – I use the shades ’Namibia’ or ‘Iguaçu’. The NARS Light Reflecting Concealer is also a product everyone should try. If I need to look more awake after a late night, I know I can rely on it. My other non-negotiables include my Fenty Lip Gloss in ‘Hot Choclit’ – I wear this all the time – and Poco Beauty’s TFD Brow Blade. It’s the best pencil I’ve ever used. I then apply REFY’s Brow Tint on top to get that laminated, fluffy effect.
Speaking of brows, I always see Nicolina at Arch Beauty. She does all my shaping and tinting – she’s brilliant and so quick. Her brow growth serum is also one of the few I’ve tried that makes a visible difference.
Don’t underestimate the power of a good cleanse. I use the Elemis Super Food Facial Wash first, followed by Skin Rocks’ The Cleansing Balm, which is thicker and removes every last ounce of make-up. I then use REN’s Clean Skincare Glow Tonic to get rid of any unwanted build-up and finish with Sunday Riley’s Vitamin C Serum and HUMANRACE’s 7D Mystifying Moisturiser. I sometimes add in the Skin Rocks Hyperpigmentation Serum too – it’s great if you struggle with uneven patches.
More people need to try R&R skincare. It’s a Ghanaian brand and I’m obsessed. The body oil feels so silky on the skin – it’s incredibly nourishing. Any time a friend or family member goes to Ghana, I make them stock up for me.
Nothing beats a good LED mask. I really notice a difference in my complexion when I use Shark Beauty’s CryoGlow LED Mask every night. My skin is smoother, fresher and more even in tone. I also love 111SKIN’s cryogenic face masks and eye masks – they’re unrivalled.
For really glowing skin, a hydrafacial is the way to go. I rate the treatment at Oh My Cream ! – I try to book one every other month or when my schedule allows. It really clears up my complexion and my skin honestly feels like butter afterwards –make-up applies so nicely on top too.
Charlotte Mensah is my hair guru. I always see her for my cornrows and I also go to Ama Salon for braids. I don’t let anyone else touch my hair. As for products, I use Cécred’s Restoring Hair & Edge Drops religiously – it’s a great product.
Finally, SIRO in Porto Montenegro is my ultimate wellness destination. If I were to recommend one place for real reset, it’s here. The hotel is fully equipped when it comes to fitness but there are also red light cryo saunas, massage treatments that use specific techniques and the opportunity to hike in some really remote areas. It’s perfect for anyone in need of some headspace. I am rebooking for 2027.
