All The New Michelin Key Hotels In The UK & Ireland

Every year, the brightest stars in the restaurant industry gather for the culinary ceremony of the year: the unveiling of the Michelin Guide. New for 2024, the famed inspectors have created a fresh guide – Michelin Keys. Designed to honour top-notch hotels, last night saw 123 UK & Ireland properties inaugurated into the list. From restaurants with rooms to castle getaways, here’s where to book for an extra-special stay in London and the rest of the UK…

In 2023, Michelin announced the creation of its Michelin key rating – and has since gone on to honour hotels across the US, France, Spain, Italy and Japan. Yesterday, it was the UK & Ireland’s turn – and Michelin’s first-ever list of 123 hotels didn’t disappoint.

Like the brand’s restaurant rankings, Michelin keys are split into three grades: one key denotes a ‘special’ place to stay, two keys is an ‘exceptional’ stay and three keys is an ‘extraordinary’ stay. And like Michelin stars, keys have been decided by a collection of anonymous inspectors who have stayed at hotels up and down the country. Going forward, there’s no set number of keys that can be handed out, and hotels can be added and removed every year.

Naturally, there are some no-brainers on the list – Claridge’s, The Newt in Somerset, The Savoy, Gleneagles and Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons all entered the list straight in at three keys, while SheerLuxe favourites Heckfield Place, The Twenty Two and The Fife Arms all scooped two. In need of a special staycation? Here are all 123 winners…
