What’s New & Noteworthy In Travel This Season
THE SHOP:
Casa De Los Leones, Mexico City
Luxury tequila house Clase Azul México has unveiled its brand home, Casa de los Leones, in Mexico City’s Polanco neighbourhood. Available to visit by appointment, the restored historic mansion has been reimagined as a multi-floor celebration of Mexican design, craftsmanship and hospitality. Original features – from stained-glass windows to a chandelier by Thierry Jeannot – sit alongside contemporary works by Raul de la Cerda and bespoke ceramics developed with Marva Studio. Interiors lean into wood, textiles and hand-crafted pieces created in collaboration with local artisans. Guests can book Taste of Time, a guided tasting of five signature tequilas paired with chef-led bites, followed by a tour of the mansion and gardens and sobremesa in the cocktail bar. There’s also a private tasting room and collector-dedicated spaces, making this as much a cultural hub as a drinks destination.

THE OFF-GRID EXPERIENCE:
PAN, Norway
Two hours from Oslo, deep within the pine forests of Finnskogen, PAN offers a trio of architect-designed treetop cabins elevated eight metres above the forest floor. Founded by Kristian Rostad and Christine Mowinckel on their private estate beside Lake Gjessåsjøen, the concept was born out of a desire to share the restorative power of this remote landscape. Designed by Norwegian architect Espen Surnevik, the cabins are anchored on four pillars to minimise impact on the woodland below. Their angular silhouettes reference A-frame lodges and even the geometry of Nordic folklore. Inside, sustainably sourced Scandinavian materials, heated floors, fireplaces and floor-to-ceiling glazing create warm, cocooning spaces that remain firmly connected to nature. Each cabin sleeps four to six guests and includes a private outdoor area with a firepit. A forest hot tub, housed within the striking House with Three Walls pavilion, sits beneath open sky – an ideal vantage point for the Northern Lights in winter.

THE SPA:
Orient Express La Minerva, Italy
The new spa at Orient Express La Minerva in Rome draws inspiration from Roman thermae and Ottoman hammam rituals. Conceived by artist-architect Hugo Toro, the journey unfolds through a sequence of tepidarium, calidarium and frigidarium spaces, encouraging gradual immersion. Travertine, veined marble and hand-blown Murano glass create a layered material palette, while a central marble hammam anchors the experience. Among the treatments offered, the signature rituals Dea Minerva and Stop Constantinople invite guests on a complete sensory journey: rose-infused foot baths, aromatic steam, kassa exfoliation, ghassoul clay wraps, foaming massages, and face and hair treatments.

Faena New York, USA
Set on the edge of the High Line in West Chelsea, Faena New York is the city’s latest maximalist address. This is the NYC outpost of the cult Latin American brand founded by Alan Faena, and the mood here is pure theatre: think velvet-drenched interiors, soaring ceilings and statement artworks at every turn. Rooms are indulgent but polished, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Hudson and Empire State Building and glossy marble bathrooms that feel unapologetically extra. Expect flame-led Argentine cooking at La Boca, inventive cocktails in The Living Room and a steady stream of art-world happenings. Later this year, the hotel will add a theatre and a spa.
