Editor's Letter: September
Dear Readers,
Welcome to the new look SheerLuxe – a project we had set as a priority at the start of the year, but only began in earnest in the midst of lockdown. I hope you’ll agree it’s fresh, chic and for now, inimitably SL. For us, like many others, today marks the first official day back in the office. We’re taking it a week at a time and while the health and safety of our team is paramount, I firmly believe in the benefit of an office environment for both the business and our employees.
I have truly been blown away by what my team has achieved working from home – we have all witnessed what can be done remotely and, as a mother, I have personally seen the huge benefit to my family as a result of the increased flexibility for both myself and my husband. However, the benefit that comes from being present, in person, when you work in a business as collaborative as ours outweighs the undeniable upsides that come with not having to commute.
I have to take a moment to thank our readers for their ongoing support over recent months – not only through a life-changing pandemic, but also a movement as seismic as Black Lives Matter. The latter pushed us to make overdue changes and I am excited to say change is now happening and for the right reasons.
As a daily publisher there is never a quiet day at SL. But September marks the start of our busiest time of year. We have a calendar filling up with shoots, interviews and features we hope you will enjoy. From podcasts with Kayla Itsines and Davinia Taylor, to new beauty contributors Adeola Gboyega and Zoe Taylor plus on the fashion front top stylist Anna Vitiello’s autumn edit and a show appearance from Marianne of Smyth Sisters’ – like the rest of 2020, it’s going to be a season to remember. Finally on the video front, I hope you'll look forward to the return of Behind the Scenes in October, and the pilot of our teen show, Luxe Girl!
Fond wishes to all,
Georgie
What I’m Reading…
If you enjoyed Tina Brown’s autobiography, you’ll love The Glossy Years by Nicholas Coleridge. A witty memoir from the former president of Condé Nast celebrating the heyday of print magazines, expect plenty of gossip and celebrity insights. From Princess Di to Kate Moss, and Anna Wintour to Philip Green, he’s worked with them all.

What I’m Watching…
I have just watched The Loudest Voice. Sienna Miller and Russell Crowe are immense as the vile Roger Ailes and his wife. Watch it, and if you haven’t already, be sure to watch the three-part The Rise Of The Murdoch Dynasty documentary on BBC iPlayer first.

What I’m Loving…
I’m loving Laboratory Perfumes. I took their lifestyle set to Sicily and wore a different one every day. I can’t fault any of them, but Atlas is my favourite. I always get such pleasure from fragrance.
