All Our Favourite Fashion Moments Of 2022
THE BAG:
Bottega’s Mini Jodie
Bottega Veneta’s mini Jodie emerged as 2022’s ‘It’ bag. The must-have accessory was a firm fixture on every influencer’s grid and the minimal yet elevated design became an instant contemporary classic. As well as bright green and silver proving popular, more versatile neutrals were also a big hit. We predict both will stick around in 2023.

THE RUNWAY MOMENT:
Bella Hadid’s Spray-On Dress
All eyes were on Bella Hadid at the Coperni SS23 show during Paris Fashion Week. She walked the runway in heels and a nude thong before being sprayed with white paint that turned into a stunning off-the-shoulder dress. The iconic moment had the fashion industry and internet buzzing – plus, it marked a step forward in the development of fashion technology.

THE BRAND:
Saint Laurent By Anthony Vaccarello
Saint Laurent has had a stellar year with creative director Anthony Vaccarello’s collections striking that perfect balance between tough and glamorous. Vaccarello has brilliantly built on the chic masculine-feminine styling synonymous with Yves Saint Laurent himself, bringing sophistication, simplicity and a cool 90s edge. We’ve loved everything – from the statement bias-cut dresses to the long coats, black tuxedo jackets and bombers.

THE TRAINER:

This old-school adidas model went from relative obscurity to fashion-crowd favourite in a matter of months. The sell-out style is now considered a cult classic, with trainer resale site Stock X seeing searches rise a whopping 736%. Undoubtedly the trainer of the year.

THE COLOUR:
Hot Pink
A mix of dopamine dressing, Barbie-core and, of course, Pierpaolo Piccioli’s iconic Valentino show ensured that electric pink dominated the fashion scene in 2022. This feel-good trend was unveiled during Paris Fashion Week when Valentino created an all-pink collection set against an all-pink backdrop. In the following months, retail sites saw a leap in searches for hot pink and it also got the celebrity stamp of approval with Rihanna choosing a hot pink Chanel vintage puffer for her pregnancy reveal.
THE RENAISSANCE:
Prada
This year saw a reignited passion for the Italian fashion house. From the cult beach tote to the heeled slingbacks, Re-Nylon accessories to that pink miniskirt, the brand’s iconic logo and collections dominated Instagram feeds this year. Despite Miuccia Prada announcing last month that she would step down as group CEO, she will remain creative director of Miu Miu and co-creative director of Prada alongside Raf Simons – so we can all expect plenty more style hits in 2023.

THE MUSE:
Florence Pugh
During this year’s campaign trail for Don’t Worry Darling, the Oscar-nominated actress showed off some of her best and most empowering looks to date. Some of the most epic included a bubble-gum pink Rodarte satin dress at the 25th British Independent Film Awards and an unforgettable moment in sparkling puff-sleeve Maison Valentino at Venice Film Festival. This year, Pugh's stylist Rebecca Corbin Murray has styled her in everything from Galvan to Erdem, custom Prada to Versace, as well as countless Valentino looks. We can’t wait to see what the duo come up with in 2023.
THE NEW FOLLOW:
Simone Ashley
After gracing our screens as heroine Kate Sharma in the second series of Bridgerton, 27-year-old Simone Ashley carved out a place as one of fashion’s leading ladies in 2022. With a season of Fashion Week shows under her belt, as well as a debut appearance at the Met Gala, Simone’s choices have proved to be as strong, smart and confident as her character. From neon pink Valentino to more directional pieces from Nensi Dojaka, Alexandre Vauthier and 16Arlington, Simone’s Instagram offers a BTS snapshot of life in the fashion fast lane.

THE TREND:
Metallic Silver
Metallics are never far from our minds and this year it was silver that had a major moment. Flashes lit up the AW22 runways of fashion heavyweights from Isabel Marant to Loewe, and our Instagram feeds were soon full of cool girls wearing the trend. Silver trousers with tees and blazers became an everyday uniform while chunky silver jewellery was the accessory of choice.
THE COLLAB:
Wardrobe NYC X Hailey Bieber
WARDROBE.NYC joined forces with model and beauty mogul Hailey Bieber to celebrate its fifth birthday in September.
