FASHION
My ideal shopping day in Stockholm would start at Stora Bageriet. It’s central, close to the water and serves a traditional Swedish breakfast and bottomless filter coffee. Swedes take breakfast very seriously. From there, I’d drop by Svenskt Tenn for interior and textile inspiration, and to check out the unique jewellery collections. I always buy something here; it’s a true gem.
My favourite area to shop in Stockholm is Östermalm. Around Biblioteksgatan and Nybrogatan, there’s a good mix of designer brands and high-street fashion – plus, there are incredible restaurants and cafés.
For vintage, the Södermalm areas Mariatorget and Nytorget are must-visits. Here you’ll find stores such as Humana, Lisa Larsson and Broadway and Sons – all loaded with cool pieces.
There are so many great Swedish fashion brands that it’s impossible to choose a favourite. Some of the ones I gravitate to most are Acne Studios, House of Dagmar and TOTEME. On the high street, it’s always ARKET.
Nordiska Kompaniet has a great mix of Scandinavian brands and international designers. I could spend a whole day here going from the beauty department to fashion, having lunch and getting a piercing. I also love the newly opened Rosens Stockholm, which stocks brands like Magda Butrym and Cecilie Bahnsen. I work for Nordiska Galleriet on Nybrogatan – I think it’s a must-visit for interiors.
For tailoring and repairs, I always go to Hanibal Skrädderi & Kemtvätt in Zinkensdamm. He’s the most talented tailor in Stockholm. For shoe repairs, I go to Bäckmans Skoservice on Nybrogatan.
I recently discovered the Australian brand The Significant Other and I’m obsessed with its dresses. I’ve been wearing them to work, on holiday and to weddings. If I could only wear one brand on repeat though, it would be TOTEME. It’s the true essence of Scandi style.
A. Roege Hove is a Danish brand to know about. It does conceptual knitwear with an artistic approach.
When it comes to summer essentials, I’m a Vestiaire Collective stan. I always try to find cool vintage swimwear on there. For new swimwear I love CDLP and OAS Company. For sunnies, it’s always the classic Ray-Ban Wayfarer; it will never go out of style. I plan to pass these along to my future children one day. Finally, my perfect summer bag is a Dragon Diffusion one. They’re perfect for both beach days and the office.
SHOPPING DESTINATIONS
Paris is my favourite shopping destination in the world. There are so many unique boutiques to explore in the Marais and the 10th arrondissement. I always go there for vintage shopping. Bobby and Palettist Vintage are my most visited spots.
Schostal Originals in Rome is the coolest boutique I know. It’s a heritage brand that sells the most iconic pyjamas and basics. I love the traditional design that attracts people and celebrities from all over the world. Rome’s Sunday markets are also great for vintage. I used to live there and always went to the Borghetto Flaminio market. It has such a curated selection of fashion and accessories. I found a spring/summer 2005 Dolce & Gabbana skirt in python leather there – a unique find.
I love Berlin for unique shopping. I always make sure to visit Voo Store for the impeccable selection of brands. Not so unexpected, but Copenhagen is always a good place for shopping. Both new and vintage, Danish style is very eclectic and fun, and I surprise myself when I’m there because my style becomes more fun and relaxed.
BEAUTY & LIFESTYLE
If you want people to watch, Slussen is a busy and stylish area in Stockholm. Sit down at Riche Fenix with a glass of wine and enjoy watching the commuter crowd.
Stockholm has a lot of great small independent cafés – we are very serious about our coffee. I love Stora Bageriet, but also the Italian espresso bar Sempre.
Café Pom & Flora are the Swedish masters of breakfast. Their range goes from traditional Swedish breakfasts to açai bowls and matchas, which is what makes it my go-to spot for a sunny Sunday brunch.
My go-to restaurant is Café Facile. It’s a small French bistro in Vasastan. I always order the steak minute and red wine. Also make sure you visit Södermalm and go for dinner at Bambi for equally good French cuisine and amazing wines.
The rooftop Riche Pelago is a new opening I’m excited about. Café Klotet is another. It’s in the Slussen area, and has great food and views of Stockholm.
For a unique hotel experience, Ett Hem is a personal favourite. It was decorated by interior designer Ilse Crawford.
Sturebadet is the place to go for a day of pampering. In Stureplan, it’s the best place for true R&R. For a facial, I always visit Anna Calderon – a high-tech dermatologist working with the latest techniques. She has transformed my skin.
For hair, I go to Anna at Paloma Dolores – a beautiful salon on Södermalm. I rarely get my nails done professionally because I like doing them myself, but if I do, I go to Dashl for cuticle maintenance.
I’m not really a party girl anymore but when I go out, I always visit Trädgården, an outdoor club at Södermalm. It plays a mix of live music and great DJ sets.
