New York-based Scarlet Kent is known for her minimalist take on tailoring and love of 90s silhouettes – but by her own admission, her personal style is constantly evolving. From current season trends to statement accessories and everyday staples, here’s what she’s loving right now…

01

THE SHEER DRESS

Sheer details are always subtly sexy and I predict this 90s-inspired trend will be big come spring/summer. I love this Christopher Esber dress – the details are so interesting, especially the draped bodice.

THE KNITTED TIGHTS

Having moved from Texas to New York, knitwear has become a staple for me – as have wardrobe extras to keep me warm, like these cream tights.

THE MAXI SKIRT

Finally a skirt style I can get on board with. I love the tailored fit and the way this one elongates my legs. It’s from Zara, but clearly inspired by The Row.

THE FLOWER DETAIL

I’m not massively into florals but brands like Loewe and Magda Butrym prove how romantic they can be. This Magda dress is an elegant shape, and the flower and backless details make such a statement.

THE LONG SHORTS

Longline Bermuda shorts sometimes get a bad rap, however the trend tends to come back around. I love my Anine Bing ones for the summer, but this Zara pair could be worn now with cosy knits.

THE COAT

Tailored, long or oversized – a good coat is a must-have. This Teurn design is such a classic shape.

THE V-NECK

In the spirit of layers, a V-neck is a great piece to have in your wardrobe. I love layering them with t-shirts and tank tops, and I’ve found a good selection of second-hand ones recently. This James Street style would look great with a black tee underneath.

THE BELT

Belts are a practical yet very stylish fashion accessory right now. Layering them looks even better and I’m ready to use mine all at once! I love how this Maimoun one is a real pop of colour.

THE LOAFER

Whether they come from Church’s or G.H. Bass or somewhere else, there’s something really special about finding your perfect everyday loafers. I recently thrifted this Saint Laurent pair, which I’m obsessed with.

THE BROWN LEATHER JACKET

I love leather jackets and a brown one is high up my wish list – I just love the vintage vibe. I admit I’ve been eyeing up this Sandro one; the fit is great and it would go with so much in my wardrobe.
