the BRAND

Starting life in 1993 as Prada’s ‘younger sister’, Miu Miu continues to resonate with its target youthful audience today. Offering a more playful, unexpected feel than its more grown-up counterpart, the brand has attracted a string of edgy names to star in its campaigns – like Chloë Sevigny, Cara Delevingne and Little Simz. Meanwhile, Alexa Chung and actor Willem Dafoe walked in its SS25 runway show in September – all of which led to it reclaiming its title as the most-searched for brand in the third quarter of 2024 (according to the Lyst Index) with online enquiries rising by 30%. Even established A-listers are trying to get in on the action. Case in point, Nicole Kidman’s near-infamous cover of Vanity Fair, where she "begged" to wear one of the brand’s signature mini – and we mean mini – skirts.

the AESTHETIC

Miuccia herself has called it “avant-garde” and “twisted”, offering “more room for liberty”. No wonder then that the looks are more tongue-in-cheek – think short hemlines, cropped preppy jackets and cut-off shirts. However, it’s the accessories line that’s really helped it achieve cult status. From the buckled ballet flats to the suede boat shoes and the reading glasses you’ve likely seen doing the rounds on Instagram, Miu Miu’s influence can now be seen across the board – including on the high street.

the COLLECTION

It’s fair to say Miu Miu’s collections aren’t for the shy and retiring. But balanced out with oversized jackets, boyish polos and masculine shirts, it falls nicely between cheeky and cool. Colourful stripes pepper a largely muted palette of blue, black navy and beige, while 90s-inspired slingbacks and penny loafers nod to its Italian heritage.

the LOOK

If Miu Miu itself is a little out of budget, there’s plenty of inspiration to be found on the high street. Head to Mango if you feel brave enough to try the miniskirt and loafers look. If you’d prefer to just dip your toe in, try Reformation and Life of Ease for striped tops, which can be worn with jeans or tailored trousers for a more practical, everyday take.

From sheer skirts to oversized barn jackets, suede totes to brushed cashmere, THE HIGH STREET HAS EVERYTHING you need to RECREATE THE LOOK.
