Style Rules With Blogger Honey Belle

Style blogger Belle L (@HoneyBelleWorld) accompanies her minimal aesthetic with sassy, witty captions that have made her a fashion favourite on Instagram – think New Bottega meets Zara, with a dose of Scandinavian laidback cool. Here she reveals why dressing down will always rule over dressing up, plus the designer pieces worth investing in…

I would describe my style as maximalist on the inside, minimalist on the outside. I’m a print-addicted Gucci lover at heart, disguised in a practical, neutral, pared-back outer shell. I wear jeans pretty much every day and, on the days I don’t, I’m in a black tracksuit.

My favourite trend of the season is the return of grey and beige tones. The irony of getting excited about the dullest colours is not lost on me, but I’m loving them.

My favourite thing I’ve bought this season is a pair of slouchy jeans from Zara. They’re a great, 80s shape and they look much more expensive than they are. I could have picked countless other things from Zara though – it never disappoints.

And my favourite boots this season are also from Zara. The chunky track-sole ones are a great Bottega Veneta dupe and are much lighter than they look.

If there’s one thing you should buy this season, make it a blazer from The Frankie Shop. Its cuts are amazing and you’ll have it in your wardrobe forever.

On the high street, I love H&M for hoodies and sweatshirts, Zara for jeans and knits, and Arket for absolutely everything.

When it comes to designer, I invest in bags, bags and more bags. I’m a very devoted bag lady and was probably a handbag in a former life. My Loewe Hammock was my biggest splurge, but so worth it. I’ve got my eye on the Bottega Veneta Cassette next.

My favourite under-the-radar brands are Kassl, especially for its bags, plus Blanca Miró Scrimieri’s range La Veste – I love how quirky and delightful it is. I’m a big fan of Anne-Laure Mais’s label Musier for knitwear too.

I love accessorising with jewellery – particularly rings. Right now, my go-tos are from Cinco Store, a gorgeous Portuguese jewellery brand, and Reliquia.

I don’t really do festive dressing as I’m allergic to dressing up. Instead I’ll just wear something simple like jeans and a knit, then add in a red lip and a heel. I do have a silver shirt from Arket though, which I might give an outing to this year – that’s about as much sparkle as I can manage.

I’m a print-addicted Gucci lover at heart, disguised in a practical, neutral, pared-back outer shell.
My one piece of advice is: always check the weather app before you get dressed.

This Christmas I’m hoping for a Slim Aarons coffee table book, a pair of sparkly Miu Miu Mary Janes (to wear with vintage Levi’s 501s and a black cashmere jumper for Alexa Chung vibes), an Olympus Pen EPL-9 camera, plus a very hunky, possibly French boyfriend (think a young Alain Delon).

My favourite people to follow on Instagram are Pernille Rosenkilde, Marianne Theodorsen, Marie Jedig and Anne Johanssen – all Scandi girls that fearlessly embrace colour. Trinny Woodall is also one of my favourites for making me laugh – her posts brighten my day!

I don’t live by any styling rules but my one piece of advice is: always check the weather app before you get dressed.
