Priya Ahluwalia just rounded off a stunning year by collecting the New Establishment Menswear gong at the British Fashion Awards. Renowned for her innovative approach to sustainable fashion, she draws inspiration from her Indian-Nigerian heritage and London upbringing. THE WEDDING:
The Ambanis
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchat’s nuptials in July were the epitome of grandeur and extravagance, with highly publicised ceremonies and events that lasted well over a week. The Ambani wedding, as it became known, included performances from the likes of Beyoncé and couture fashion moments. Social media lit up with videos of Bollywood dances, statement floral installations and celebrity sightings. From private jets and luxury cars to high fashion and bespoke jewellery, it was reported to come in at a final cost of £450 million, and was easily the most unapologetic show of opulence and glamour in 2024.

THE CAMPAIGN:
Loewe
Loewe has had some standout campaigns this year, brought to life by ambassadors like Dan Levy and Aubrey Plaza in its ‘Decades of Confusion’ campaign, as well as Daniel Craig and up-and-coming actors such as Ambika Mod and newcomer Richard Gadd. From quirky short films to unexpected Instagram takeovers, Loewe enjoyed several viral social media moments this year.
THE MUSES:
Zendaya & Cynthia Erivo
Zendaya and Cynthia Erivo are two of the year’s most talked-about stars thanks to their respective roles in smash hits Challengers and Wicked. Zendaya – also the star of sci-fi blockbuster Dune and award-winning series Euphoria, has captivated social media this year with her red-carpet choices (which she continues to work on with 'image architect' Law Roach). From a head-to-toe Thierry Mugler robot look to her sequin-adorned Rahul Mishra sari, her and Roach's ability to transform and evolve her style for any event continues to set her apart. Meanwhile, Cynthia Erivo has become a force in Hollywood this year. Her role in Wicked has further cemented her reputation as a talented actor, while her bold and unapologetic red-carpet choices have earned her a place among the fashion elite. From dramatic couture gowns to avant-garde looks, her ability to fuse theatricality with high fashion has been unmatched.
THE EVENT:
Elie Saab’s 45th Anniversary Show
Elie Saab’s 45th anniversary show in Riyadh, titled ‘The 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab’, was an incredible celebration of the designer’s journey to date. The star-studded event not only showcased 300 beautiful pieces, but also featured unforgettable performances by megastars like Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez and Camila Cabello. Adding to the glamour, Hollywood icon Halle Berry made a surprise runway appearance at an event that proved to be a monumental tribute to Saab and his influence on the world of fashion.

THE COLLAB:
Mango X Victoria Beckham
In 2024, designer and high-street collaborations didn’t get any bigger than Mango x Victoria Beckham. In April, they created a capsule collection celebrating the retailer’s 40th anniversary. Mixing Beckham's elevated design aesthetic with accessible fashion and prices, it was the perfect balance of high-low.

THE INDUSTRY MOVES:
Chanel, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Givenchy, Tom Ford & Celine
This year has seen a wave of exciting shifts in the fashion world, with several high-profile appointments making headlines. Matthieu Blazy’s promotion to creative director at Chanel marks a new chapter for the storied house, while Louise Trotter’s appointment at Bottega Veneta signals fresh innovation. Alessandro Michele’s highly anticipated debut at Valentino brought a new vision to the iconic Italian brand, while Sabato de Sarno has taken the reins at Gucci. At Givenchy, Sarah Burton’s transition is set to further elevate its avant-garde aesthetic, while Haider Ackermann is already generating buzz at Tom Ford. Finally, over at Celine, Michael Rider has been tasked with continuing the brand’s legacy of understated cool.
THE MODEL:
Alex Consani
It’s no surprise that Alex Consani won Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards. From dominating the runways at Prada and Versace to fronting campaigns for Gucci, Jacquemus and Mugler – and even being the first trans model to walk at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show – she brought a fresh, fearless edge to the fashion world this year.
THE ACCESSORY:
Triangle Scarves
Triangle scarves have had a major moment, proving they’re the perfect accessory for every season. In the summer, lightweight silk versions added a chic touch to simple tees, effortlessly draped around the neck or worn as a headscarf. This autumn/winter, wool and cashmere triangles have remained a go-to – whether layered over knits or coats.

THE SNEAKERS:
Miu Miu x New Balance
Miu Miu and New Balance continued their winning partnership in 2024, releasing this year’s must-have sneaker for fashion girls. The reimagined 574s took Miu Miu’s luxe look and mixed it with New Balance’s iconic design details – think distressed suede in muted, wearable tones. They’ve been spotted on everyone from Gigi Hadid to Sofia Richie.
THE TREND:
Sheer
Naked dressing was one of the year’s most talked-about trends. On the runways, Victoria Beckham and Givenchy set the tone with elegant sheer layers, showcasing everything from barely there blouses to sheer skirts with statement knickers. The high street followed suit, delivering accessible options that made the trend more wearable for everyday life. From subtle sheer panels to head-to-toe organza, proof was delivered that bold, statement trends can be both aspirational and affordable.

Whether in tailoring, silk blouses and oversized sunglasses, or cashmere and chinos, her wardrobe was a masterclass in understated glamour. With a knack for finding a modern edge, she reminded us all why she’s still at the top of her game.
THE BAG:
East-To-West
This year, the east-to-west bag trend truly took off, with Alaïa’s Le Teckel leading the charge. Featuring sleek, elongated bodies and oversized shoulder straps, these bags mix practicality and fashion appeal, making them a standout accessory for 2024.

THE MET MOMENTS:
AI Images, Sand Dresses & Victoria Beckham's Debut
The 2024 Met Gala theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, offered up some unforgettable fashion moments. While Katy Perry wasn’t in attendance, the singer went viral by posting an AI-generated image of herself on the iconic steps in a floral-appliqué dress. The image caused a stir, even confusing her own mother, and quickly amassed millions of views online. On the real red carpet, singer Tyla stunned in a one-of-a-kind gown crafted entirely from actual sand. The avant-garde creation blurred the lines between fashion and art – so much so that she had to be carried up the stairs like a living sculpture. Meanwhile, Phoebe Bridgers made history by wearing Victoria Beckham for the first time at the Met. The British designer's minimalist yet chic dress – a wispy pale pink lace and sheer chiffon slip – brought a touch of ethereal elegance to the event.
