16 Antiques We Love This Month

When it comes to antiques, it takes a lot of time and energy to source the perfect piece. In this feature, we’ve done the hard work for you. From a Scandinavian sheepskin sofa to a set of elegant dining chairs, here is what we’ve seen and rate online.

Set Of Six Dining Chairs, £4,500

This set of six elegant and richly carved 19th-century French beechwood dining chairs are all stamped with the original Alexandre Pihouée maker’s mark. Respected Parisian furniture maker Pihouée established his business in 1878, and worked with his son Victor-David making furniture until 1906. We also love the upholstered fabric – the look is so fresh and clean.

Still with its original rush seat, this French country bench is bang on trend – even though it dates back to the 19th century. It’s slim enough to sit in a hallway or at the end of a bed. We also love the colouring of the wood and the simple design.

Made from Cuban mahogany in around 1780, this richly toned tray has fold-down sides. Butler’s trays were originally used to serve drinks, tea or cakes on a stand. Nowadays, they’re used as side tables in living rooms, or as an extra serving surface in dining rooms.
