20 Antiques We Love This Month

In this monthly feature, we aim to take the hard work out of sourcing antiques. Whether it’s a set of French Napoleon armchairs or a Gustavian sideboard, here’s what we’ve seen and rate online...

A Pair Of Armchairs

This pair of 19th century French Napoleon round-backed armchairs from Blanchard Collective have been recently upholstered in a modern, versatile fabric. Ideal for any style of living space, we love the soft curved arm rests, supportive high back and dark wood feet.

A Decorative Bench

Either in a hallway or as a kitchen seating option, this European bench has a weathered look, perfect for adding a touch of warmth and texture to any home. Simple yet elegant, it has just four spindles on its back, reeded central carving and notched arms.

A Glazed Cabinet

This Eastern European wooden glazed cabinet is a classic example of a storage solution from years past. This one has been repainted in a matte, light grey colour and comes with a natural pine interior with three chunky shelves, newly glazed doors and locks. The cabinet frames are close to 100-years-old, so do expect to see some signs of wear.

A Large Sideboard

Both a practical and stylish choice for a dining room, this 18th-century Gustavian period sideboard features rounded corners with a shaped bottom profile. On the doors, you’ll find a rare, original hand-carved Scandinavian mythological folklore centre panel, featuring a Norse third eye inside a diamond, which symbolises wisdom. The piece dates from c.1790, too.

A Cast Iron Table

if you’re looking to up your entertaining game this summer, this French cast iron garden table comes with a beautiful 30mm thick marble top. A stunning addition to a generous outdoor space, it seats between six to eight people and is in remarkably good condition. The decorative frame features striking lions’ claw feet, too.

A Small Side Table

A beautiful William IV rectangular side table with a small, handy drawer, this would make the perfect side table next to a sofa – plus, it’s in lovely condition with only minor signs of age-related wear.

A Pair Of Cane Chairs

Still in excellent condition, this pair of vintage cane chairs would look good in a sunny corner or on a balcony. Accessorise them with a seat pad or a sheepskin throw for extra comfort.

Inject come glamour into your interior space with this pair of French mid-century end tables. With brass frames and white veined marble tops and undershelves, they’re guaranteed to make a sophisticated addition.

A Bamboo Headboard

This smart, vintage single headboard is a great way to give a bedroom a quick refresh.  It’s sold singularly, but there are two matching pieces available – ideal for a guest room or other children’s rooms.

A Bobbin Chair

Ideal for a corner in a bedroom, this 19th-century chair features bobbin detail on the legs and back rest. It’s an antique item, but one which is in good condition, plus it’s been carefully restored to minimise the few marks which are consistent with its age.

A Library Cabinet

Ideal for extra storage, this solid, early-Victorian mahogany library cabinet is of the highest quality. The two large doors open up to an adjustable shelved interior, while the cupboard comes with the original key and locks, both of which work perfectly.

A Detailed Coffee Table

We love the rope twist detail on this high-quality coffee table, which dates back to the late 20th century. It has a thick frame and a large glass pane, both of which are in very good condition, while the  design as a whole looks similar to a selection done by Fratelli Boffi.

A Bedside Cabinet

Made from pitch pine with bamboo details and a marble top, this Victorian bedside cabinet is in great condition. It’s stamped ‘Posschelle-Delalou, Bruxelles’ and is certainly different to anything typically British of its time. There’s plenty of storage, too, including two shelves and a drawer.

A Marble-Top Chest Of Drawers

This beautiful French antique marble topped commode, dating from c.1890, is made of burr walnut. With an elegant white marble top, oak lined drawers, brass escutcheons and carved squat cabriole legs, it’ll be deal in a hallway, bathroom or bedroom – a great statement piece in every way.
