23 Antiques We Love This Month

When it comes to buying antiques, it takes a lot of time and energy to source the perfect piece. In this feature, we’ve done the hard work for you. From a pair of French armchairs to a beautifully upholstered Dutch sofa, here is what we’ve seen and rate online.

French Sofa, £3,250 (was £3,950)

This 18th century Provençal sofa has beautiful carved details, including swept arms and a fluted back, complete with a bow cartouche and eight tapered legs. The pale grey/green paintwork is original, and while the piece has been fully reupholstered, it still retains the original horsehair filling.

Travertine Table, £1,900

Travertine is a golden natural limestone formed in hot springs and caves. A popular decorative motif in the 70s and 80s, you can now find plenty of interesting pieces on the secondary market – most often in the form of coffee and dining tables originating from France, Italy and Scandinavia. This Italian table was the one to catch our eye.
