10 Things I’m Buying For My Home: Daisy Brown
Meet Daisy
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been in love with beautiful things. As a child I would cut out magazines, create moodboards and rearrange my bedroom at any opportunity. After leaving a career in fashion, I became immersed in the furniture and interiors industry, thanks to my fiancé George.
Meet The Brand
We launched Six The Residence during the pandemic. Calling upon our experience supplying bespoke furniture to restaurants, bars and hotels, we were able to bring our first small collection to life: key pieces included cane dining chairs, bouclé and walnut armchairs, and UK-made pouffes. At the time, it felt like the interiors market was somewhat missing the mark – there was no middle ground between high-end designer pieces and more affordable low-quality options. With a lot of over-designed pieces on the market, it was important that Six The Residence furniture was simple, yet beautiful – classic shapes adorned in contemporary fabrics.
Before long, our pieces were being featured in the media and we had some of the most influential tastemakers as our customers, which accelerated the growth of the business more than we could have ever hoped for.
Style & Inspiration
I take a lot of inspiration from vintage pieces, fashion brands, 90s movies and luxury hotels. I love to follow the interior offerings from Katie Harbison, Athena Calderone, Elizabeth Damrich and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The way they style their spaces helps to evolve my own personal style at home, which I would describe as statement yet timeless. Naturally drawn to neutral colours, I love to weave vintage pieces among new furniture to give a more ‘lived in’ look.
My developing confidence in design and styling has resulted in some bolder pieces for our collection, while still trying to strike the perfect balance between style and substance. My favourite pieces are the Burl Side Table and Finials Bar Stool with Rope Seat.
